Topic: Another Historic Makeovers Question - Which Fretwire?

As part of the work that I'm having done at Historic Makeovers, I'll be getting a new board and frets on my '10 R9. HM typically uses the Jescar FW47104. However, I've confirmed that the stock frets are Jescar FW45100, which can lose a bit of height when Plek'd at Gibson. The FW47104 are a little wider and a little taller, but with a smaller radius (sharper) crown, so may actually "feel" narrower. I need to choose what I want to go with... Anyone have experience with BOTH and care to offer insight into the difference in feel?

Thanks!

Re: Another Historic Makeovers Question - Which Fretwire?

I've got both on my two HMs. I like them both. I like the 4510 by the tiniest margin. Hard to go wrong with either.

Thanks for the reply!

I think I'm going to go with the FW45100...

Does it feel like you have a bit extra fret underhand with the taller FW47104 or does the height pretty much feel the same? Also, does the crown feel sharper or narrower on th FW47104?

Also, how do you like the HM? I'm a bit nervous as my R9 is rather special in the way it sounds and plays already.

Cheers,
