Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

I listened for the first time today to Joe's show.  I don't know why it took me so long to get on board to this.  I seen the thread  and just didn't look into it until last week after I had missed the show.

I enjoyed it.  Loved all the music Joe picked, but I gotta say Jackson Brownes The Rebel Jesus kinda threw me off.  Had to make sure I was still listening to the right show.  But a nice song none the less.  Loved the Led Zep.

I've never met you Joe, but hear all the stories of what a down to earth approachable  fellow you are.  Hearing you chat about the music you like just affirms that fact.  Maybe next time around So Cal I can get a meet and greet.  Here's hoping.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

This was a repeat of a show from last October, but it was still a good one. Hope next week is brand new.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Good to see a bit of Robben on there. Hope you have a copy of Renegade Creations latest dropping through your mailbox today Joe!

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Here's the songs from Joe's show on Sunday:

James Brown - I Got The Feelin'
John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers - A Hard Road
Albert King - I'll Play The Blues For You
Rory Gallagher - Laundromat
Robben Ford - Prison Of Love
Howlin' Wolf - Killing Floor
Jeff Beck - You Shook Me
Mason Ruffner - Gypsy Blood
B.B. King - Ain't Nobody Home
Freddie King - Sweet Home Chicago
Cream - Crossroads
Led Zeppelin - I Can't Quit You Baby
Joe Bonamassa - Ball Peen Hammer

Always great to hear Rory Gallagher, Howlin' Wolf, & Freddie King. And I never get tired of Crossroads!!

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Finally got a chance to listen to the latest installment.

Joe's taste is fantastic.  That Robben Ford tune is from a really good album, IMO.  But as with Joe's work, I find it hard not to like what Robben does.

Nice to see the three Kings on the playlist.  Remember seeing Albert do that tune at a show that was opened by Paul Barrere and the Bluesbusters.  Not to go off topic, but what a band that was.  And what a show.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Rats...I just tried to access the On Demand player for Planet Rock.  Now you apparently have to register and subscribe for access to the on demand feed, at least for older shows.  See the following message I saw in the player window (not quite formatted as below):

Sorry, it doesn't look like you're a fully paid up Planet Rock VIP just yet.

Log in or SIGN UP and subscribe now to get access to the HD, Ad Free stream, the On Demand section and our exclusive shows.

Still will stream the current live show, if you aren't a subscriber.  But if you want to get access to past shows, like I could just yesterday (and prior), apparently now you've got to pay a fee.  That's too bad...as I can't always free up Sunday noon (in the US/midwest) to listen to Joe's show live.  Further info from the "register" option:

Our brand new VIP Club will cost just £4.99 per month*, for which you get all of that great content, access to exclusive events, fantastic competitions and much, much more.

* Members must sign up for a full 12 month membership.

If I'm missing another alternative, please tell me.

So this will mean that any future exclusive PR presales will involve another "fee" to purchase tickets? That is near $80!

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Found more info at the "listening online" section.  No more on demand access, other than the live stream, if you don't subscribe.

http://www.planetrock.com/general/listening-online/

And here's the VIP registration page:

http://www.planetrock.com/vip-club/club/signup/

Not sure how/if it relates to access to PR presales.  But you're probably right.

Found a discussion on the PR VIP pay deal at the link below, but doesn't answer the presale question.  Aren't the presales across the pond mostly done via Eventim?

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

One of the sweeteners of being a member is a free download of a JB album of your choice as of 1st July. The sound quality is excellent though and the blues channel is excellent, prog rock not bad either.

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

And these sites wonder why people rip them off and post the shows free  on Youtube and such. $80 for something that was previously paid for by advertising is just pure profiteering. Truly digusting. I imagine there will be a sudden drop in their figures with this.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Been trying to convince myself it's worth it, for access to Joe's show on demand, but so far the "no" vote is winning.  (And I've already got all of Joe's output, so the free d/l not going to tip the balance to "yes".)  But cool that they are doing that, for those who sign up.  Will be interesting to see how successful this is.

That forum link I posted might be biased, but nobody there seemed happy.
