Topic: technology question for Joe

Joe......with the advances of modern recording techniques and plug-ins do you ever see a day that an "old school Marshall and Fender amp guy" such as yourself would record an album with your guitar tones provided via a plug-in instead of an old tube amp cranked up with a great mic sitting in front of it????

I seriously think he wouldn't ever do that, because he usually achieves similar tones with different amps.... He simply uses different amps because they feel different! Plug ins don't have a feel.

Re: technology question for Joe

Isn't the recording done via Palmer SSs?

I think he's talking about software like Guitar Rig

Re: technology question for Joe

It's good to do a Y out where the guitar has one cord that goes into the board 'virgin' and the other goes through an amp, so if you nail the licks but didn't have something right on the amp, you can "re-amp" it by putting your good take (recorded) signal out from the board and into the amp (mic'd) with the adjustments you made. Hope that makes sense.
