Topic: ATTN: Tampa Tapers

With Joe returning to Ferguson Hall at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center on December 2nd, I shot off an email to David Jenkins of the TBPAC. I inquired about the possibility of "relaxing" the center's taping policy for this performance(short version:NOT ALLOWED!). I forwarded to him the official taping policy of Joe & his management. I recieved a very short return email stating the following:

"We will allow taping the night of the Joe Bonamassa performance. That show goes on sale to the public on Aug. 20."

WHOO HOO!

After a quick TY reply I inquired if this was a "special" exception. Mr. Jenkins replied:

"Yes, this is the only event in my memory that we've modified it for.  It's very strict otherwise."

That is SO cool.................

So I have a request for any and all tapers in the TB area - PLEASE come to this show!!! I missed out on his performance in Tampa earlier in the year and I'd LOVE to have a show that was taped in my own "backyard"!

So it looks like I'll be spending most of my b-day cash on Joe - tickets go on sale ON my b-day (Aug. 20th) and the next day I'll begin wearing out my copy of "Sloe Gin" as it hits the streets!

MAN.........I am SO psyched!!!!!!!!!

Re: ATTN: Tampa Tapers

WTG !  Dave thats excellent news for you and others hoping to capture the moment. I hope you get some good seats up front. Just goes to show "it dont hurt to ask"...,     Paul

Re: ATTN: Tampa Tapers

That is awesome news Dave.  My boyfriend and are planning to be at that show.  It's not too too far from my backyard.  I'm not a taper, but I do hope to get some nice pics of the show.  I sure do hope we have some tapers there though.

Now, I'm psyched!!!  Good job Dave.

Re: ATTN: Tampa Tapers

Yeah, it was very good news, indeed! And I DID have front row seats for the show earlier in the year, however a new job required I work that particular evening so I had to give 'em up........:(
Of course, that ain't gonna happenin' THIS TIME! smile

I'm not a taper either, but I sure do hope someone decides to take advantage of the new "Only for Joe" taping policy of the TBPAC!!!!

Tix to the show, new JB disc............Man............it'll be "Christmas in August" this year!!

Re: ATTN: Tampa Tapers

What can you tell me about the acoustics of the place? It's maybe I go and an absolute I capture.

Re: ATTN: Tampa Tapers

I've got the dimensions of the place as described below...I can guess it's a possibly great place...

Ferguson Hall is ideally suited for plays, musical concerts and dance events. The elegant 1,042-seat Louise Lykes Ferguson Hall boasts comfortable orchestra seating and two tiers of curving balconies, creating a unique blend of intimacy and spaciousness. With a 40 foot wide by 30 foot high proscenium, a total playing depth of 50 feet and a total stage width of 80 feet, plus orchestra pit and concert wall, the Ferguson Hall offers flexibility that suits many tastes from local plays to corporate meetings.

The big question is wall materials, wood or ???

Re: ATTN: Tampa Tapers

It is most definitely THE best sounding performing arts hall in the area! I know the acoustics were designed for small orchestras, plays, etc. However it WAS voted as "The Best Sounding Venue" in Tampa Bay  in "The Best of The Bay - 2006" by the staff of "Creative Loafing" magazine:

From the TPBAC.org site:

And here's a .pdf file with all of the tech specs for Ferguson Hall:

Hope this helps!
