Topic: ZZ Top - Texicali EP

Downloaded this from iTunes today. Great stuff!

I'm digging the tone he gets on I Gotsta Get Paid. If anyone has any idea how he gets there I'd love to know.

Re: ZZ Top - Texicali EP

OK guys, been a Top fan for a long time, but I'm not hearin' a lotta new stuff here. The songs are different, but the chops are very reminiscent, is it just me?

The live shows are always great. Looks like for now that Nashville is as close to you as they're gonna get. The closest gig to me is 8/19 in Concord, Ca., 107.7 The Bone's Bonehead BBQ with The Cure as the opening act. Would much rather see 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson with them like most of the U.S. tour. They're actually doing 4 shows in 5 days within an hour of here, luck of the draw this time. Never had this many options before when they've hit NorCal.

They plan to tour in Europe, too - with Philip Sayce opening, but up to now no show in Germany.

Switzerland isn't too far to go for a "globe trotter" like you is it Guenter?

Re: ZZ Top - Texicali EP

Other than the first song none of the rest grabbed me.  So much music lately  sounds recycled and stale.  Neil Young's release is horrible.  I do like some of Joe Walsh's album, but there's a few clunkers thrown in.

Still waiting if there is a German show - like last year when they played in a medieval castle near Nürnberg, going nicely with their beards. Their European scedule looks tight but you never know.

Re: ZZ Top - Texicali EP

- resurrect this thread, as the :Gotsta get paid" song has been playing a lot on Planet Rock recently, - Am I the only one who thinks that this is a shabby interpretation of previous songs and that it just does not flow right?

No, you're not the only.

I've had rather big expectations on "Texicali" but sorry to say it's a disappointment.
