Re: David Lee Roth / Steve Vai - Goin' Crazy

I don't understand why we have a young artists section if people keep making separate posts here..?

TThere was an issue with that section being 'separate from others' and less exposure etc. I got an email from bonamassa forum saying its fine. This means I dont HAVE to post in that section I believe?

Re: David Lee Roth / Steve Vai - Goin' Crazy

A forum e-mail? hummm smile   There is no mandate to post in the sticky. The idea is to keep you from either slipping onto the 3rd page, or receiving complaints from members who may not realize you're young, and find a self promoting thread frequently reappearing on the front page annoying.   wink Cathy

Re: David Lee Roth / Steve Vai - Goin' Crazy

I kind of understand where JLowther is talking about.

It's not that big of deal, but it seems like you have a place in "other artists" and a "sticky" to post your stuff.

It would be nice if each youngster would have a few threads with their stuff, instead of keep opening new threads for each new song or update.

It's very exciting, but we have to search our threads for established artists, instead of opening too many new threads.  And these are artists that have long careers.

Not having a lot of threads can help show your body of work without it being scattered about.

"Holy Toledo"  -  Bill King   "Just Win Baby" - Al Davis  "The Autumn Wind" - Steve Sabol

Re: David Lee Roth / Steve Vai - Goin' Crazy

Okay, I understand, although I was just trying to promote myself a little more.  I think if you only post in the 'under 21' post then people are less likely to view it rather than in other artists.  Why would someone click into that sticky if they have the view that we arent established artists, therefore not worthy looking at?

If a moderator sees this message, i've re-posted this in the sticky thread, so feel free to do what you want with this post.

I personally don't care where you post just keep posting (and that applies to all of you). Promoting blues and guitar talent is what it's all about unless you want to look forward to an old age of electro crap, and boy bands..

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: David Lee Roth / Steve Vai - Goin' Crazy

Yeah, I wonder about that forum email you got too.....look Gary, the point is really very simple, and all the other lads seem to have grasped it!

You have SIX (6) other, self-promoting topics here, all of which you have started in recent months. All we're asking is that you stick with one of those (the original one maybe?) when you want to post something new - or, post that something new in the sticky - instead of opening a new self-promoting topic every time you have something new to share. Is that really asking too much or affecting your exposure?

What do you think that this Other Artists section would look like if every player (irrespective of age) on the forum started a new topic here every time they recorded something new?

RIP Iron Man

Rock On and keep the Faith

I understand your point.  Yeap I recieved an email about the sticky thread about it being a fairly bad idea and they were working on it.

Feel free to delete this post or move it to the sticky.  Your choice.
More vids to be uploaded soon (in the sticky don't worry) ;-)

Later on!

Re: David Lee Roth / Steve Vai - Goin' Crazy

I don't see how the sticky is a bad idea? I love it! Thanks to Cathy for opening it up smile

Re: David Lee Roth / Steve Vai - Goin' Crazy

Thanks Jonny wink The intent was never to create any big deal, and I'm sorry for any confusion. My communications with "the powers that be" haven't reflected that opinion, so for now, we'll just leave things as they are. Even if I don't respond to every update, I, and many others, are listening. Young talent puts a grin on everybody's face. smile   Cathy

Hahaa I know Cathy! :-) Thanks for setting it up, just to clarify, im not saying its a bad idea at all...I just prefer to post in 'other artists' section.   But now I know I ought not to haha!

Cheers Jonny!  Another video is being uploaded as we speak...I shall post it in the Sticky :-)

Re: David Lee Roth / Steve Vai - Goin' Crazy

No problem with keeping a thread, just update it, if you prefer to go that route, vs a new thread each time. Just don't get lost smile  Cathy

Re: David Lee Roth / Steve Vai - Goin' Crazy

Once again, another upload from myself...this time, i'm back with Mr. Steve Vai with a solo from 'Goin' Crazy' by David Lee Roth.
Really enjoy this solo and hope you do!

P.s watch in HD for much better qaulity!
I kept in this the same thread rather than starting a new one - just updating :-)

Thanks

Thanks Gary. I was going to post a big long post of explanation but I see the questions were from last week.
I thought we were all on the same page after Jim explained it a while back, that folks can have their own thread. The progression of the discussions can be reviewed here (what hasn't been deleted) for better understadning but its no easy task with looking at dates etc.

I'd be happy to discuss anything off forum rather than clutter up Gary's thread again but will take the moment to remind all, you can also update the title of your own thread by editing the first post in the thread. That way you can alert that there is a fresh clip or gig or something and keep the number of threads limited.

Alternately you can delete your own thread you started and make a new one. Sometimes they go off on tangents so you can always paste what you want into a new thread to start a new discussion. It shouldn't be a problem if you delete the old or wait for it to fade away. Those who don't want their own thread have the sticky to share in. smile

Thank for sharing Gary and everyone esle who does too!
I love seeing any artist feel comfortable to share here.
Thanks to Joe for letting us use this section to do so at your forum!!!!!! smile !!!!!!!

Thanks alot! :-)

Ah I didnt know you can change the topic title - I've just changed it to let everybody know it isnt still the same track.
