Re: John Fogerty

John mentioned in a recent interview regarding these album performances with Rolling Stone that he's softened over the years about his bitterness of the ending of Creedence in the '70's. So much so that he might even consider joining forces with Stu Cook & Doug "Cosmo" Clifford, his old bandmates and childhood friends. I love the Green River album and the title track, but it's a dead heat tie with Bayou Country as my favorite CCR albums. I use the term albums as I had them all on vinyl before upgrading to CD's, because 99 1/2 just won't do....just won't get it!

Best version I ever heard of that tune was Creedence Clearwater Revisited with Elliot Easton of the Cars as their lead guitar player. Stu & Doug still tour with this version of CCR, but Elliot left to rejoin the Cars.

Re: John Fogerty

I saw Fogerty in 2005 when he toured with John Mellencamp and he absolutely stole the show!! He did 20 songs, 17 of which were creedence songs. He's an awesome guitar player!! I'd like to see him & Bonamassa jam together.

Here's just a little trivia I just learned in John's most recent interview with Rolling Stone Magazine. They asked him about the origin of the song Green River, one of my favorites. He said it wasn't about a real Green River, but about a place he vacationed at with his family as a child. Green River is actually Putah Creek just outside of Winters, Ca. where it flows out of the Monticello Dam At Lake Berryessa, a place I have many teenage memories of, like learning to water ski there. John said Green River just worked better lyrically than Putah Creek.

If this were ever to occur the CCR song I'd love to hear them play together would be Tombstone Shadow with some extended guitar interplay. The CCR catalog has a lot of blues tunes in it.
