Topic: Let's help Joe in SF

I need your help to get Joe some exposure in the Bay Area. Fri. night I was at the Bone Bash put on by KSAN 107.7 The Bone ( Skynyrd, KWS, Pat Travers). I had a chance to chat up Paul Tonelli, half of the morning show Lamont & Tonelli. I asked if he could slip some Bonamassa into the mix only to have him respond Who's that? I told him I get that response too often, but if they like KWS enough to play at the Bash they would love Joe as much or more. So Bonabuddies if you could take a minute to e-mail these guys we can help Joe out big time. This station is the sister station to KFOG in SF, the only ones who play Joe on rare occasions. The Bone's listeners are geared more toward Joe's music, he just needs to be heard. Here's how to reach them:    1077thebone.com

click on contact us on the left

scroll down to Lamont & Tonelli (and Sully)

direct your message to Paul Tonelli

tell him what you think of Joe and request a song

Hopefully if we bring it strong we can reach Joe's true demographic in the Bay Area.

                                                                                                  You guys are the best,

Re: Let's help Joe in SF

Hey bubba! Great idea, I'll send them an e-mail, I'm going to spend a little time giving some thoughts on how to word it. I think we should drop some stories of all the monsters that have come through and how Joe stacks up. I tried in Sac town and got my chain pulled!, but you never know. Maybe we contact the manager at " the palace" and work him too! Lets talk Sat. in Winters, we will come up with something.

The Bone is a great station.  THEY ROCK!  It's one of the main stations I listen to over the internet.
Jane, what makes this station better than the formulaic Classic Rock Station(like we have in Sacramento) is that they play the new stuff by classic rock artists along with some newer bands.  They also play more hard rock than the classic rock stations. I think it's independently owned and that's why they have more control in how it is runned.  One of my pet peeves with the Eagle in Sacramento is that they play Joe Satriani as background music for their concert updates, yet they hardly, if ever, play Satch's music at all on their setlist.  And it's always the same song.  The Eagle needs some updating with Joe B.  The Bone plays B-sides of albums.  Much more of a variety of music.  And of course, they love Satch.  Hopefully, they will play Joe Bonamassa soon.  Then they would really have their Mojo working!

Re: Let's help Joe in SF

Sounds like a much better Cox-owned corporate radio station than the one here, also called "The Bone"! I think Cox has dozens of "The Bone" and "The Eagle" stations across the country. We have one of each here. I know there is also a "Bone" and "Eagle" in the Florida panhandle, around the Tallahassee area, too. Pretty lame to call various stations by the same nicknames, if you ask me.
But that's Cox Radio for ya!

I hope you can make some headway with them, though. Getting Joe played on any corporate owned, "scripted rotation" radio station is a great accomplishment! I know I have constantly run into brick walls with the programmers here in the Tampa Bay area, trying to get them to play Joe. However I think the scripts they are forced to play limit their ability to add anything into the playlists.

Re: Let's help Joe in SF

Just want to clear up a few things regarding 107.7 The Bone in SF. They are owned by Cummulus Corp. who also own 104.5 KFOG and KNBR 680 AM sports talk radio. They all operate out of the same building in SF. The Bone's library is on hard drive, so if they decide to give Joe a shot they may have to load him in unless they share files with their sister station KFOG. As depraved as ta-ta Tues. sounds, there is a method to their madness. At the Bone Bash Lamont & Tonelli presented a check for $80,000 to the breast cancer foundation which was raised through ta-ta Tues. This is an annual event handled by the morning show. I told Paul Tonelli I would send him a sampler of Joe's music so that's my next step in this plan to tell the Bay Area about the best damn guitar player I know. Jane don't be put off by these guys antics, their hearts are in the right place. Don't hesitate to E-quest their other time slots as well as your local FM stations. Thanks for your support and I will report any progress.

Rivercat, don't forget Get The Led Out, which is a part of their regular nightime programming too.

Re: Let's help Joe in SF

I emailed the Bone in SF. Told the station I was writing from CT and heard a rumor they didn't know who Joe was. I asked them to ck him out and as a sample play Tea for One. Maybe if others email the station they will get the message....
