Re: What was your 1st good guitar

My 1st and only guitar that is mine outside of the collection the hubby has is a 1920's (maybe 28) acoustic Victoria Parlor guitar.  I'm told it is a sweet little guitar.  My grandmother gave it to me and it belonged to her grandmother.  Somewhere I have a photo of my g-g-grandma with it and 3 other musical instruments.  I looked it up on the net an it looks to be worth about a grand.  Holy cow, I used to carry that without a case when I took guitar lessons in high school (1974) for a semester.  Didn't have a clue what it may be worth back then.  I don't play anymore cuz I discovered I have no ear for learning notes and never could grasp reading music.

Wow! I "had" one.  It was a darn sweet one.  I ended up giving it away to my local soul brother.  I actually have another now.  Not as good.

Funny you mentioned the Sears -Silvertone...
What we all thought were the cheesy guitars are now collectible with the amp in their case...Peavey did that later one with the T-15 & Amp combo......
I think my 1st acoustic was some kind of Finger bleeding Silvertone...hard to fret & harder to Chord back then....

I got even with one of those dimestore type guitars in Mexico. Went down in '87 with a few friends for almost 3 weeks and just for kicks bought an el cheapo guitarro in the Plaza de Mercados in downtown Mazatlan, cost about $12.00 American. So the night before we came home we had one last hurrah dinner @ our favorite seafood joint on the beach. We had leftover M-80's we had to use up so we stuffed one in the MexAxe and cast it off into the surf. Didn't blow it to smithereens and what was left washed back up on shore, got a picture of me holding the remains in my archives around here somewhere. That guitar never blistered another finger!!!

Are you refering to the pitted marks on the body? Studded wristband? Pearl buttoned shirts?

Re: What was your 1st good guitar

In high school and college, it was usually borrowed instruments, mostly cheapos.  In 1983 I bought my first brand new guitar, a Yahama SG 2000 (this isn't it, but it looks exactly the same:  http://jasonmessham.files.wordpress.com … g-2000.jpg ).  Sold it a couple of years later when I decided I just didn't have the time to spare anymore...

Fast-forward about 25 years, and I decided to take up playing again strictly as a hobby.  Bought a brand new Baja Telecaster, and my hobby/addiction was off and running...  big_smile

There is a pic, somewhere in a box, somewhere in the garage. Even if I found it I have no idea how to get it to here, or I'd be boring you guys to tears with photos for a long time now.

Well, I thought that someone would notice that the markings are identical to the one's on Treasure, because this is Treasure. All original, except the wraptail.
