Topic: Historic Makeover Bonamassa GT Bigsby Proto

Didn't see this posted yet.  You may or may not like Bigsbys but once again HM as made a sweet looking guitar.  I like what they did with the serial number.

Re: Historic Makeover Bonamassa GT Bigsby Proto

Interesting - I remember Joe showing me his Gold Top Prototype at the Adelaide show.  He talked about the 'Serial Number' what was hand written as 'Bonamassa Prototype #001' (or something similar) on the back of the headstock, because the Gibson lady would not let a guitar out of the factory without a serial number on it...?!

I must admit to being a bit obtuse though, because I've missed the significance of the Historic Makeovers serial number they have given this guitar...

5877 is Joe's B-day. He also shares it with Robert Johnson.

What?!  There's going to be a release of this guitar?

Oh man... do I go for the 60 Cherryburst with the Bigsby, or the 57 Goldtop with the Bigsby?! smile

No, I think this one WAS the prototype for the original run of 300 Gold Tops... Joe's just has the Bigsby, but for some reason, that particular item never made it onto the run of 300...

I believe the Bigsby guitar is chambered. I don't think it is the signature JB prototype but I could be wrong.

Re: Historic Makeover Bonamassa GT Bigsby Proto

Joe had/has two gold tops and two Bonabursts. He had the prototype of each series, and number 52 of each series. The Bonaburst prototype was given to Kim and redone in Black for BCC. Based on this thread, it looks like Kim redid his gold top prototype as well. Joe also has the Candy Apple Blue one as well.

I think the Joe B 052 Bonaburst from Wildwood was redone black by HM.  Didn't both of his 52's have broken necks?

Yes. Both were broke by airlines. Sources tell me there's a #52 in Kim's hands for a refin.
