Topic: New Music To Me

In the past week I've come out of the fog and started listening to music again.  I've found some interesting stuff I'd like to share....

"Souls' Chapel" - Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives: This is the title song off his new album of mostly blues/gospel songs.  Definitely not an album for everyone, but the instrumental "Souls' Chapel" stands alone as a monster tune.  The song reminds me alot of "Sleepwalk" with its reverb drenched riffs that recalls the best guitar playing from the early 60's.  This would be a great tune for Joe to cover although Kenny Vaughan's playing is flawless.  I looked hard but couldn't find a find a video for this song.  Maybe someone can help here.  I did find a nice guitar duet though with Vaughan and Stuart that I'll include.

PS to Tres,

I'm back at that skating rink, the lights are low, my best girl is at my side and I'm listenin' to Kenny this time.....

Tres,

I know you're pullin' me leg on this one.  For those who don't know the guitar Marty's playing is the original Clarence White Stringbender or B Bender.  White was a country legend and member of the Gram Parsons led version of the Byrds.  Here's a story about this unique Fender.

Those of you with access to downloading "Souls' Chapel" should get it and tell me what you think.

It's easily the best song I've heard this year.

Re: New Music To Me

Marty can do no wrong in my book. Been a big fan for years due to his high steppin' style on display in that video. Marty's music spreads out into Country, Bluegrass, Rockabilly, Country Rock, Gospel, & Blues and does it all without a hat!!! If you ever get the chance to see him live by all means do it. Curby, you might want to give Honky Tonkin', It's What I Do a listen, it's got a nice variety of Marty's styles on it. Probably my favorite entire album of his.

Re: New Music To Me

I posted this from before.  The only one who seemed interested was Mbcl. Marty is an ambassador of Country music and I hope Mbcl friend was able to pick something up smile
