Topic: Long or short pots for JBLP Studio ?

I am thinking about upgrading the wiring in my Studio to go with my new JB '59 pickups....
 
I see differing pot lengths.  Which one's best for the LP Studio? 

Anyone had direct experience with upgrading the wiring in these guitars; companies, brands, specific pots?

Long shaft for the Studio.

Have used them in all my guitars incl. a Studio, a JBLP, an R7, an R8 and 3 out of my 4 Strats.
Generally I prefer the Vintage kits with Jensen caps, but in the Studio I used a modern kit, for a little more hard rock friendly bite and "open" tone.

I've did mine ..pots are least of your worries ..the pots are mounted to a metal plate with a random wiring schematic and you'll find ceramic caps in there too.

I've rewired with braided cable, replica bumblebee caps & 500k audio taper  cts pots to 50's wiring ..took a day but was time well spent.

Are you wiring it yourself?  If your taking it to a tech to have done don't waste your money on pre-wired kits.  In fact if you know how to solder at all don't waste the money on a pre soldered kits.  You can save a ton of money really and its not that hard.  Acmeguitarworks.com has some kits you might consider too.  I know people swear by bumble bee caps but I think they are over priced myself.  For the money I think Orange drops sound the best and cost like a $1.  I had the Jenson paper and oil caps in my Les Paul and my Strat.  I later swapped the cap in the strat out for a vintage Vitimin B Cap from 1944 I think.  Paid $15 and it sounds killer because I went with a .010 instead of the .047uf.  My strat kinda has a telecaster twang to it.

Long shafts are appropriate for Gibson USA models. Custom Shop (Historic) models use short shafts. You can find 0.022µF 400V NOS K40-Y9 Russian military PIO caps cheaply on the internet. The K42-Y2 caps are almost identical…you can't hear a difference. This person sells them: zombiwoof@earthlink.net

Make sure that you use a 50s wiring scheme.
