Topic: What gear will be making the journey to Australia??

Was wondering whether Joe will take his rig this time?

And what guitars will he take?

Re: What gear will be making the journey to Australia??

Not sure about amps - he hired last time, but seeing that he had a major rig failure in Sydney, he probably will use someone other than Billy Hyde Hire this time around... wink

Joe also had a cut down pedalboard, and had about 5 guitars he brought.  I think I had photos of all that in my post from May last year - Joe was kind enough to take us on a stage tour of all his gear!

I saw an interview where he hinted that he would bring more of his gear next time...... maybe he should buy an Australian rig? I could babysit it for him tongue

It is interesting!!

Haha - Joe is welcome to borrow #129 if he doesn't want to carry another gold top all the way from USA! big_smile

I think he usually hires out 4 DSL100's when he goes somewhere where he can't take his usual rig! Other than that pretty much all the same smile

I know that has been the case on previous occasions. But since his profile is forever rising he can now maybe afford to ship the rig over here!!

Good point! You're in for a treat if he does it sounds great! (Haven't actually heard it live yet as the last gig I went to was London in October when he had his old 4 amp setup! )

Re: What gear will be making the journey to Australia??

Would love to hear the whole new rig but somehow I think it will be too much to bring.

Also I believe he won't bring the 59 LPs this time based on his comments about the European tour: too much worry and stress looking after them.

That's a shame, but Joe makes any guitar sound good, so  not too much loss.

I'm really hoping he brings Magellan... Love that guitar!! But you're right, he could play a whole night on my epi and it wouldn't even matter!!

I wonder if he has ever played the Epi on stage. Interesting thought...

I know that but it would be good for all the people out there who can't justify the outlay. I'm sure you have played Gibson's. Do you think they are that much better. What a good piece of business that may be. Not looking for arguments.

Of course Pete!! Would be the ultimate advert!! But joe simply doesn't use guitars that are worth less than 3k on stage!!
I feel my Epiphone trounces a lot of Gibsons, but Gibsons I have access to and the Gibsons Joe has access to would be worlds apart!!

Re: What gear will be making the journey to Australia??

Still scratching my head at this topic...

Re: What gear will be making the journey to Australia??

Same here... I think the biggest problems with the amps is the voltage difference.  He'd have to cart power steppers for all of them, and they're not cheap, plus heavy and not always 100% reliable.  There may be some tonal changes as a result too.

Perhaps he could bring his Euro rig, which will be rated for the correct voltage, but I am not sure if he is coming to this region from Europe, or what the freight costs would be from there as opposed to the US?

Would be nice to see the Van Weeldens/Trainwrecks/Carol-Anns/Category5s on our shores though! smile

Strangely, I am not too fussed as to which guitars he brings this time.  I saw his '59 burst last year, which was cool, but I think Joe could make any guitar sing, regardless.  And yes Stefan, that includes the Epi! smile

Personally, I'd like to see him mix it up a bit with a Tele or the Flying V in there!!

He makes anything sound good, but I'd love to see a '59 burst in person, that would be awesome!! Almost like going to a guitar museum!! I'd love to see some of those amps over here... but if he can't that's also understandable!!
