A splendid 2-0 away win for the Hammers in Cardiff. I just wonder if a two goal cushion is enough to take home? roll

Yes I should think so. Allardyce will have them in the right frame to do a professional job at Upton Park. Even if Cardiff take an early lead in that game I don't see the Hammers losing to them there.

The tricky one will be the final. Winner take all. If we are there I might just have to try and make it....jinx or not!

I was in Cardiff...jeez, was it seven years ago? A once in a lifetime experience. If we make it and you can get hold of a ticket, go for it!! The playoff final is the richest single game in world football, who would have thought.....

Oh Lord that reminds me of the last World Cup when Turkey advanced to the round of 4. We were staying in Berlin with my son who lived in the heart of the Turkish sector. The place went crazy!!!! Horns, flags, fireworks, churchbells (right across the street from his flat!) Thousands of people in the street laughing, crying, celebrating like there was no tomorrow. It lasted well past dawn.

No doubt there was some similar celebrating yesterday in Berlin as 'The Old Dame' managed to save their Bundesliga place with a 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim on the last day of the season! Bit of spice in their too as Hoffenheim are now coached by Marcus Babbel who was the Berlin trainer up until Xmas when he left following a row with the club manager Preetz.

Cologne needed to beat Munich which was never really on and the went down automatically after a 4-1 home thrashing. Last game for Podolski there as he now goes off to Arsenal. He'll do very well there I think if Wenger uses him right. Much more mature now. I hesitate to say this but I see shades of Bergkamp about him now. He actually makes more goals than he scores. Very good team player. As it is he got about 19 this year I think.

Now Brelin have to play a winner take all tie against the third place Budesliga 2 side..........but we don't know who that is yet! St.Pauli, Paderborn (Amazing that!) and Dusseldorf are still in with a shout. Whoever it is though I think Berlin will win and stay up.

Dramatic stuff...........Oh and I see that Wednesday pipped the Blades for the automatic spot in League 1. Now that has gotta hurt you Blades.

Re: The Football Topic

Thats football mate. We can't all support Manxhester United and it would be pretty boring if we all did. We are the colour and shape of the game. The silent majority, suffering, week in, week out, with just the occasional glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

But for all that I still remember Bobby Moore shaking my young hand as he opened some shop or other and saying "Thanks for coming son. Whats your name and where shall I sign?"

Heroes and suffering, wonder and tragedy. You are not alone.........by the way can we have our 20 mill back. You haven't used it very well and should never have had it anyway...................

No, it isn't. Anyway, I thought it was 'only' 15 m. wink

If you really don't know what we mean, one of us will be glad to explain.

Anyone notice that Messi scored all four goals in Barca's win and now has 50 (fifty) league goals this season? Unreal.

Great shame that the Chavs won the cup, but the blunt truth is that this L'pool team doesn't deserve to win anything.

I will confess to being surprised at the ease with which Citeh beat the Barcodes this afternoon Looks like only some kind of miracle can stop them taking the title

Mate, nobody is looking for a football argument or (heaven forbid) fight here on Joe's forum! T'was nothing more than a bit of traditional banter, no offence intended. wink

It wasn't an argument it was sarcasm. Don't worry. Life is too short.

Yes, Super result. 5-0 overall was a good professional job well done. Don't know who I fancy in the final. Probably Blackpool. Somehow Birmingham have always been a bit of a bogey team for the Hammers in recent times.

Chris Houghton has done a good job there, but arguably I think we deserve it now. One more game. We need to get back. the financial implications for not doing it are fairly draconian I fear.

Appreciate the congrats from Sheffield! Watching the game on a good stream was by far my highlight on what was otherwise a very depressing day. We appear to be on a roll at the right time, though you can never tell. Collison looks like he'll be fit in time. I would also prefer to play the Tangerines instead of Brum.

well done West Ham, - does seem crazy that so much can now rest on 1 game....

Blackburn down... and a chicken on the pitch! Good to see Wigan stay up, - as a Club they deserve it for sticking at attacking positive football.

Agree Ian, even though they beat us recently, and as a result, it looks like we'll be coming in second this year. sad

... and made it interesting for the rest of us!! wink Football is in danger of becoming boring with success being purely determined by income, - but as I am sure you will agree as  long as you can still get a game where the likes of Wigan through hard work and organisation with great managers the likes of Roberto Martinez can win against the top 4 then you have still an interesting league. Sorry to say this but the SPL and la Liga are bad example soy what football is about IMO.
