Went to HOB.com then put in chicago and back porch. Shows on sale only go thru 6/28 as of now. I did notice they have a special that gives priority seating if you eat there. Maybe we all meet for dinner? Shows start at 10pm. I will have to go see Sonny later....Cathy

If you want to sit, the dinner package is the only way...otherwise you'll be standing. Personally, I'd get a spot near the front of the stage and stand!
I probably won't be at HOB on Friday, but my daughter and I will be at Crossroads on Saturday. We actually wanted main level standing, but wound up with seats...24th row, Section 120 (I think)

How close are the tables to the stage?

The restaurant area is a totally different room from the concert hall.
The main floor area in front of the stage is all standing room and the show I saw recently was packed. There may have been some seats on the sides of the main floor, but I don't know how you could see from there if you were sitting.
My daughter was with me and we were in the balcony. Actually really nice view and sound from up there. She was recovering from ankle surgery and could not stand. She sat in a stool right at the front rail of the balcony (there are two rows of seats there). I wound up standing directly behind the two rows of seats (long story, but they screwed me outta my seat). Other seats in the balcony, but those are the best. I think getting there early let's you get the best seats.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Walter's web site lists the show as being in the HOB Back Porch, which I understand is the name of the restaurant there at HOB Chicago. Apparently, they have a small stage in the restaurant that they use for smaller scale shows. I don't believe his show will be in the main music hall. If you go to there web site:
http://www.hob.com/venues/clubvenues/chicago/
and click on the right side on either the slideshow tour or the virtual tour, you'll get some pics of the place. The first picture of the virtual tour shows the restaurant with the stage at the far end of the room. The slideshow tour has better pictures of the main music hall.

Wow, I saw someone playing that stage last time I was there having dinner. I never would have expected Walter playing on that stage.

Eric said "I'm not sharing the stage with that guy. he's way too good" smile Seriously, the general opinion seems to be (according to postings on here from a previous thread) that Joe's management are aware of Crossroads and that EC's aware of Joe. I suppose the only people that know for sure are the powers that be...but if Joe isn't invited then someone, somewhere needs a bloody good talking to smile

I must've missed it. How does Eric know of Joe, and what does he think?

Right on target-Eric knows Joes talent-and after all - Joe would steal the show-I dont care who they had playing !!!

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Does anyone know why Joe hasn't been invited to Crossroads?  I feel like No one is willing to give him the chance for some national recognition.  He more than deserves to be up there playing.  Just my two cents.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

If you haven't noticed, it's also people that Clapton knows well too. If this were a more full-blown version like the original, Joe probably would've been there, but it's only a one day thing.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Joe's affiliation with Gibson. After watching GMA's show with Eric and Joh Mayer, they were stressing the limited 100 EC Strats that went on sale today. Since Crossroads is a fundraiser there's probably some donation promised by Fender....Just a thought..Cathy

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Not sure why Joe wasn't invite or maybe he was and it was a tour conflict.

Here is a link of EC and Mayer on GMA performing Crossroads.

Mayer is a beast!

Re: Clapton Crossroads

J.J. Johnson, Doyle Bramhall II's drummer, is playing with Mayer. Can't wait for Doyle to be active again.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Okay, I've been guilty in the past of dogging Mayer, more for his early image than anything.  I officially admit it, I'm an idiot.  He's pretty freaking great.  EC ain't bad either ;-).  But Joe is still the man in my book.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Mayer reminds me of Prince. He can play when he wants to.

Pino and Steve are such in demand musicians that they we're only with JM for the JM3 tour and recording of "Continuum".  Pino plays with The Who and Steve is in Clapton's band.  JM's new band features some heavy players including JJ Johnson and a killin' singer/guitarist named David Ryan Harris.

I honestly don't think Clapton even knows who Joe is.
My friend met Doyle Bramhall II and asked if he had heard Joe, and Doyle hadn't heard of Joe, and DBII is in Clapton's band.

Wow! That almost seems impossible, that someone in the music business would never have even HEARD of Joe. I realize he's not a household name (yet), but with his talent you'd expect Joe's name to get around in the music world.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Ya i could have sworn Joe jammed with him before, probably mistaken for someone else.

Re: Clapton Crossroads

I think this has been discussed before..the Tom Dowd connection...Can't imagine EC not knowing of Joe. He's not low profile, can't miss his name or picture in the guitar magazine world!           Cathy

Re: Clapton Crossroads

Yeah its too bad.  I'm not a huge fan of Mayer, He's a good player, GREAT songwriter, I just dont like his blues playing, Ive said it before and ill say it again. If joe hits it big and becomes a household name he'll go down as the best guitarist to ever play, I think hes got every style mastered, his chops are unbelievable, he plays with feeling(which is what hooked me to begin with), has GREAT tone and now more than ever, he is really developing a truely unique voice on the instrument.  I dont see any weakness in his playing at all.  The talent Joe posseses to me is beyond what I have ever imagined.  I never thought someone would grasp every angle of the instrument, but joe has, I believe we are witnessing the best guitarist to ever live.  The thing that gets me the most are his recording session videos on youtube(the video is called gigatory), some of the best playing ive ever seen, and im sure he just sat down plugged in and played.  Its too bad people aren't noticing.  Maybe Sloe Gin will make a splash, im excited for the record.
Peace,
Conner
