Topic: Greetings from Brazil

Hi!

I've been a Joe fan for a while now, approximately 1 year. My former guitar teacher, who is a heck of a guitar player, introduced me Joe's music. He said Joe is the only rock/blues guitar player that gets his attention.

I liked his music right from the start. I think Joe has part of his style between Gary Moore and SRV, which I love. All his aggressiveness and feel, reminds of them a lot. Plus he got a powerful singing. But he has more, I guess he has got his influences, not only Moore and SRV, take Eric Jonhson for instance, and established his own 'voice', that is undeniable awesome.

I have a thing that when I like an artist, I like to get like 3 CDs or dvd/blu-rays and give two to friends who I think might enjoy it as well, one is for me of course. So I got some Live from The Royal Albert Hall blu-rays. I remember one friend calling me the day after he received it, he was blown away just like I was for the first time.

To not make this a very long post, more than it is already, lets conclude this. I discovered 2 days ago that Joe is coming to Brazil. I was a little too late but still managed to get some great seats. Just need to book a hotel and air tickets and I'm all good. Can't wait to see him live. My friend that liked the Royal Albert Hall might go with me. I'm glad that I got to introduce Joe's music to him, and yet I still have one Royal Albert Hall to gift some deserving friend.

I hope to contribute to the forum the best I can, and to learn and interact in the best way possible with all of you.

Cheers,
Diego.

Re: Greetings from Brazil

Olá da Inglaterra, - minha esposa é do Brasil, - Recife. País maravilhoso, as pessoas boas. (thanks Google translate).

Never been to Brasilia, but been to Recife a few times, - at last the North East region has some investment, - it has changed so much over the last 10 years, although the fascination with everything American at the cost of Brasil's heritage is a concerning trend... When we were last there we tried to get a Brazilian made guitar, - nothing :-(  everything was cheap far eastern imports and the standard of guitars on display was awful, - rusty strings and not a guitar in tune, - my son spent all his time tuning all the instruments in the shops we went into! lol or kkkkkkkkk? :-)

Oi, tudo bem com você ?

You actually didn't loose a lot in not visiting Brasília. I love here, but it's not the most touristic place, there are so many others places to visit before here, and Recife is one. I went there when I was a little boy, and enjoyed it a lot.

There isn't very good guitars here, at least the manufactured ones. The best quality ones I've seen is Tagima, altough I can only vouch for electrics. My first guitar was a Tagima, it brought me a lot of joy. There are some high quality stuff out there, but mainly custom models made by luthiers. A famous one is: http://nzaganin.com.br/index.asp
I guess you might have visited a bad store, a fact that is pretty common though. It's a tough reality here when it comes to imports. A Les Paul Standard sells here for like $6000, we have some very harsh taxes, it's said is one of the largest in the world.

Now about England. When I was 17, I had the pleasure to spend 3 weeks in Cambridge. I did a small course to refine my english, not that I took much advantage of it, but I had a total blast there. I did bought a Stratocaster there, my second guitar. Unforgettable day, I was so happy lol. Even if I just spend half a day in London - the time I was there was the exact same time of the subway incident - I loved there, and I want to come back as soon as I can.

I don't laugh using "kkkkk", I'm more of and old school youngster, we use more of "aioheaioheiaoea" "ahuahuahua". But 'kkkkkkk' is getting a lot of usage lately.

Thanks for your post!
