Wow, what a finish! I thought Neuer would be the hero but had no idea that Bayern would try to throw it away with 2 misses. Thank goodness Schweinsteiger put the last one away.

In all honesty Bayern were the better team over the entire match. Made more chances and tried to play football all the time.

Referee had an excellent game too I thought. Bayern will be without a couple of players but then Chelsea too. Could be a good final and Bayern in their own stadium must be a very good bet.

Lovely to see Ronaldo to miss the first penalty I must say.

Couldn't have predicted this result after the first 14 minutes though!

Can't find a word to disagree with there, Mike. The first half was a totally absorbing 45 minutes of football. After that it petered out a bit, but Bayern were the dominant team and thoroughly deserved their win. Such a bonus to see Mourinho go out, and utterly wonderful to see the prancing trick pony miss the first one! lol

I have never, ever, supported a German team with the fervor with which I shall be behind Bayern in the final! cool

Robben (and Ribery) v Chelsea that is what I wanted to see!!!

Ironically Ribery didn't have a good game at all and couldn't function as usual. Real double teamed up on him and Robben but Franck couldn't deal with as well as Robben. Hopefully he will have more freedom againsta depleted Chelsea. I think mainly as when Robben plays on the right he ALWAYS has to come inside anyway as his left is his ONLY foot.

That said Robben was the inspiration in the front line. I thought he was everywhere and Reals packed back line meant he had to distribute which he did very well. Just about got away with the penalty but that solitary goal set it up for a great match. Real were never the same afterwards.

Jose was quickly off down the tunnel afterwards and I wonder what went wrong. Certainly Bayern's midfield play strangled Real's creativity and they were relying on quick breaks. Strange to se Real so muted at home though.

Bayern lose 2 players for the final and both stupid bookings. 2 very young players in Gustavo and Bachstuber. Shame Lahm or someone didn't calm them down a bit. Gustavo's tackle on Pepe for the booking was 20 metres INSIDE Real's half. Just wasn't necessary, but then again Gustavo had been on one all night and was lucky not to have got a booking earlier for persistent daft fouls. Bachstuber launched himself and caught Bezema's trailing foot. Also not in a dangerous position. They both played their part in a magnificent victory but oh, how they will miss playing in the final.

Anything can happen, as we know, but somehow I think Munichs name is on the trophy this year.

Re: The Football Topic

Ashley Cole v Robben will be an interesting match up as the both have speed, although I think that I would move Robben to the left to exploit weakness.

I hope that the final lives up to the standard of the 2 semi's, best that I can remember.

Robben is a Dutch player in the German team, so you can support Robben.
I'm from the Ruhrpott and don't like the Bayern kicker  ... but, in this special case ... maybe I'm behind Bayern. I could support Neuer, who's from the Ruhrpott ...

Pep Guardiola to go! - before he got pushed ? Now thats what i call Karma!

I have no idea what you think that you mean with this comment, but it's pure bull. If you knew anything about Barca, you'd know that they desperately wanted to keep him and have been after him all year to extend his contract. There was no question of him being 'pushed' out - this opinion is based on everything I 'know' and have read, I'm certainly not claiming any inside knowledge from the club.

Personally, in view of the disappointing end to this season, I think this is a good time for Pep and the team to start anew. I look forward to Bielsa coming, though I also wish Athletic Bilbao all the best for the EL final against Atletico, another team I have never liked.

Pep's departure now confirmed - big surprise is that he will be succeeded by his assistant, Tito Vilanova.
