Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Hey guys, we've got to stop meeting like this.

I appreciated the heads up, as well.  Listening to Joe Cocker, as I type this.  Plan to hang out for the DTTD tune, and hope it's something other than the title cut.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Yep, this is brilliant. Joe said it was written, music and lyrics, off the top of his head, just like John Henry. Can only be a good sign! big_smile

Agreed.  Have heard tastes of that tune, it was great to hear the whole thing.  Glad my system's surround sound set up goes up to 11. big_smile

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

I loved the new track - except for the less ballsy bit in the middle - but thyere wasn't too much of that - the rest kicked some serious butt! big_smile

Mind you, everything else he's playing is also ace - including 'Losing You' now, which I haven't heard in ages.

Dislocated Boy INDEED!  Absolutely one of Joe's best ever!!!  Great story Joe told about it.

Just heard Dislocated Boy and I thought it was excellent big_smile

If this is any indication, the new album is going to be brilliant.

Such a great show, got to love Planet Rock.

Dislocated Boy sounds brilliant, can't remember the time i've been looking forward to a new album release as much as this one.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

An amen from me to all the comments about Dislocated Boy. I also really enjoyed  "I need you Tonight". Made me search for my ZZ Top. Always an interesting set list. smile Cathy

+1 replied on the driving towards the daylight thread. Awesome track, superb as was expected. He did say he was going to do three others also. Wow.

Thanks for sharing. What a kick a$$ track! This album is gonna be brilliant. wink

p.s. "Nothing beats a little nepotism ladies and gentlemen. You can play your own music on your own program." - that was hysterical. We like the nepotism Joe. smile

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Yep, noticed the reference to three more forthcoming.  And Joe referring to Dislocated Boy as "one of the strongest tracks I've written in a long time"...too modest when it comes to the strength of Joe's writing in general, IMO, but then we've a certain bias here, eh?

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Great set of music yet again!! He's right about Freddie King's Have You Ever Loved A Woman being the best version. I like hearing Clapton sing it as well, but Freddie takes the cake on that song!! The new song was cool as well.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Remember tonight Joe promised a new exclusive on his show. 6-7.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

Driving towards the daylight in full at about 1847 . Truly excellent, I enjoyed it live but far more detail for the album. Seems a touch slower in tempo than live. Also includes a short solo which is different to the live one.:D
