Topic: Fender Amps and EV speakers

I am starting a little amp project.  My old Fender Bandmaster (blackface 1966) head is going into a JD Newell combo cab with two 10" speakers.  He builds a great Fender looking model at a great price.  Amp will not be modded at all.  Just pop it out of the head cab and install it into the combo cab.  I have a couple of Celestion 10's for this project but am also considering some EV's. Anyone on the forum have any experience using EV speakers with old Fender amps?

not sure if the 10's are as good as the 12s for EVMs. I'd stick to the Celestions. This coming from an EV owner. You might be able to find some high wattage JBL's or Jensens in 10 that might better fit the traditional Fender sound than Celestions otherwise.

Re: Fender Amps and EV speakers

I might be getting old, but didn't Fender itself have some amps in the early '80s that came stock with EVs? One of Rivera's higher-gain models, maybe? (The Concert?) I have vivid memories of seeing Fenders with EV badges on the grill cloth...
