Topic: Jimmie Vaughan

Here's a video of Jimmie's current tour rig, given by his guitar tech, Jason Shadrick (who is apparently from Iowa!): http://www.premierguitar.com/Video/2012 … ughan.aspx

Re: Jimmie Vaughan

Wow I want to know what that tech does with his free time. Can't be too hard a gig to string two guitars and plug one pedal into two amps. I know you were trying to be helpful posting this here but there is a bit of irony to Jimmie Vaughan's rig in comparison to Joe's. I'm guessing the Premier Guitars guys were wondering, how are we going to make this seem interesting to the gear heads out there? Epic fail. wink

Don't get me wrong I dig Jimmie he is just one of those plug straight in kind of guys. It works for him. Doesn't quite work for the rig rundown though. smile

Re: Jimmie Vaughan

My initial thought - was Jimmie just so darn busy he couldn't take 5 minutes to talk about his two guitars and two amps himself? I like Jimmie, too, and I when I've seen him in recent years he was using Matchless amps (Robert Cray and Sonny Landreth also use them). BTW, I think the name of the guitar tech is Mark Weber.

Re: Jimmie Vaughan

Thanks for posting that. I have been a big fan of Jimmie's for a very long time. Glad to see he is still on the road.

Hmmmm.  Thought this was the space to post stuff about artists we like besides Joe.  Didn't think it was about comparing those artists to him.  Maybe I'm an atypical Premier Guitar reader, but I don't watch videos like this one just to see who has the latest/greatest toys. I watch them because the featured artist is interesting to me, and it's fun to see a little "backstage peek."  That's all...

As for Jimmie not doing the interview himself, I don't get why it's a big deal.  I've watched a lot of these, and you get a tech guy as often as you get the artist herself/himself.  Jimmie's 61 years old, and has done hundreds of interviews.  If he decides he's got other things he'd rather be doing on a given day, I'm fine with that...

This is the sort of reaction I'd expect from The Gear Page, not Joe's Forum...

Sorry Coach but haven't miffed anybody here in a while. I'm just saying. Jimmie has never been known to have any secrets to his sound. I don't watch that many rig rundown vid's since I'm not a player but the one's I have seen like for instance Billy Gibbons and the Keith Urban have racks and racks of pedals amps and guitars. It was just an attempt to be funny. That is why I used the smileys. Jimmie is one of those guys that likes his pedals to sound like a guitar. Most guys like him don't even have techs. Clapton being the exception. Clapton is a plug straight in kind of guy too. His rig rundown I'm afraid would be a bit boring too. smile
