Topic: New Amp Day

Just got me the Marshall rig on the right of this pic. Compliments the more modern rig on the left very well giving me a really wide pallete of tones. The 2061X/2061CX rig gets me very close to the Black Rock tones

Now thinking of one of those Lehle switches to do the 2 amp thing. Anyone got one? Views?

Amps look great but just can't take my eyes away from that 'burst smile

Re: New Amp Day

The LEHLE switchers are the best I have tried a few , sturdy nice big switches and

LEDs for channel selection no ground loop issues well worth the money

Thanks. If only it was a real burst eh????

It's a 2008 R9 in an unusual colour (sunrise teaburst) with a fantastic flame top. I bought it from Vintage & Rare Guitars in Bath, UK (a shop Joe has visited I think?) and they said it was the only R9 they'd ever had in that colour. I was lucky that it had only arrived the day before I visited and when I tried it out it was "calling to me". A fantastic guitar that I had to buy. Weighs in at just under 9 Lbs. As is usually the case with Lesters, they are all different and I had spent 7 months trying various R9's until I found "the one"

Apparantly, Gibson Custom Shop only produced a short run of R9's in Sunrise Teaburst and only shipped them to Premier dealers in the US from where V & R sourced it so it may be the only one of it's kind in UK. First thing I did after buying it was to rip out the stock BurstBuckers and replace them with Bare Knuckle Mules https://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/main/p … p=the_mule  (the world's best '59 PAF clones IMHO) with aged covers and it roars like a lion.

Thanks for the positive cmments on the Lehle amp switchers. I'll look into trying one out.

Re: New Amp Day

Wow what a rig! Your R9 is awesome. They have a tea burst for sale in Andertons at the moment and I am yet to convince my wife that I need it. Mules are great Les Paul pickups too. It would be great to hear some of your tone

Trust V&R to be the shop to get it in, I spent most my young life in their Denmark St store drooling over some of those guitars, they always get the sweetest pick of the crop. That's a gorgeous colour my friend, worth every minute of the 7 months it took to find. Enjoy!

Yeah - you're right, they certainly manage to find great axes from their US-based buyers I think. They had a 'burst downstairs in the safe when I was there (wouldn't let me look at it though)

I've seen the ice tea burst they have in Andertons. Very nice indeed.. It's a different colour to my sunrise teaburst but equally as attractive.

Once I've got used to the Marshall tone set up (still only a few days in) I'll put something up on You Tube to try and capture the tone.

Nice rig!

Newbie question. What is the purpose of the patch cord on both amps?

Both amps are 2 channel but NOT channel switchable. In other words - you can have Channel 1 or Channel 2.

So - by linking the unused inputs from each channel together with a patch lead (they have a high and low input to each) you can blend the channels together and get a greater palette of tomes from the amp.
