Topic: Salt Lake City 4-22-12

I'm so excited folks, Sunday the 22nd here in Salt Lake City will be my first Bonamassa (Blues) concert experience, I'll be in bliss from the 11th row main floor.

I'm sure the show will leave me in awe as my First Black Country Communion concert did in the little tiny "Depot" here in SLC. I walked out out that BCC show feeling just the same way I did on April 30, 1977 after witnessing Led Zeppelin play for 3 hours!

Now if there was some way I could meet Joe!

Hi and welcome to the forum. You can meet Joe, wait by the bus after the show, (usually about 45 mins) He nearly always comes for a chat and will sign programmes, pickguards, cd's etc. Genuinely nice bloke all round. You won't regret it!

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. Tomorrow I'm off from work and I'm going down to scout out around ABRAVANEL HALL as I've not seen a show in there before.  2700 seat place

Welcome, JT! I am excited for you! My first show was back in December (8th row), and ever since I have been trying out how to see/travel to another. Wishing I was in Reno tonight! Have fun!

Re: Salt Lake City 4-22-12

Sounds like our dear friend Bogie will be at this gig...who knows maybe a song behind the kit?  Somebody please have video rolling if this happens!

I'll be at the Salt Lake show tomorrow night.  I'm bringing along two friends and it will be the first Bonamassa show for all of us.

Re: Salt Lake City 4-22-12

I will be there tomorrow as well.  My wife and I drove over from Oregon today and will head on into SLC tomorrow.

We've seen Joe a couple of times most recently in Portland last December with a meet and greet.

This time I'm bringing my parents.  They are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and I thought that a rocking Joe B. show would be just the thing. smile

One more thing, does anyone know what time the meet and greet is before the show?

I'm thinking 4:30 or 5pm, but I don't know exactly.

Looking forward to meeting JT and other forum fans tomorrow evening as well.

Thanks,

conorb

Re: Salt Lake City 4-22-12

Tonight!  This will be my fourth show (including BCC at the Depot last June), and the first I can take my 15-yr-old son to.  He's grown up on Joe's music.  We'll be there on the fourth row, along with my wife, nephew and father-in-law.  Last I saw Joe solo was also at the Depot, March of 2009 -- the Ballad of John Henry tour, just a couple of months before Royal Albert Hall.  THAT was the closest I've ever come to a religious experience.  I have no doubt tonight's show will be equally amazing.

I hope everyone has a great time!  I can't wait ...

I second that!!! And, I hope you at least catch sight of Bogie too. I wish you all great sound and can't wait to hear everyone's stories. Happy Earth Day smile    Cathy

Is a Sunday night concert a taboo for Mormons? I grew up with lots of them and know that most of Sunday is spent in church, just wondering. I know plenty of Jack Mormons who would be there in a heartbeat. Man, imagine Joe crankin' up his guitar in the Mormon Tabernacle!!!

Concert?  I'm pretty sure that it is a "performance" and it's at Abravanel Hall where the symphony plays.  Sounds like a perfectly fine Sunday evening activity and location to me wink .

Should probably let this subject end right here since religion isn't an acceptable topic here on the forum. I was just a little curious and certainly wasn't poking fun @ anybody. Lucky for you SLC fans to catch Joe in a symphony hall, the Reno Event Center was a bit lacking in sound quality. Hope everybody enjoys the "performance".

Re: Salt Lake City 4-22-12

I saw Joe for the first time tonight in SLC and can that man play. He is better in person than on any recording and I have them all. He rocked the house for 2.5 hours without a break and it was the best concert I have ever been to. My first was Dion and The Del-Satins in 1962 and since then I have seen all the greats at least once and this show by Joe is by far the best ever. He is just an unbelievable talent and entertainer. If Robert Johnson had to sell his soul to the devil I'm afraid to ask what Joe gave up for a gift a thousand times better than Mr. Johnson's...

Happy Trails...
