Deep Purple's "When A Blind Man Cries". I have a bootleg recording from 1994 with Ian Gillan in great voice and Joe Satriani playing blues guitar! It's one of my iPod favorites and I could see Joe doing an amazing job with both the vocals and guitar on what is a really great (but not widely known) song.
Stormy Monday!
How about Robert Plant's Big Log. Joe could do that and do it justice. Already a beautiful melody but I would love to hear his take on it.
Definitely, this is one of the best ideas! I love this song, and 29 Palms.
I've not read everyone's posts so sorry if I repeat you (clearly great minds think alike! )
Now I'm Here by Queen
Under the Sky by the Answer would sound kick ****, he's so different vocally that it would be a completely original version.
And as he likes Jethro Tull: Hymn 43 would sound amazing I think.
Oh Atlanta by Bad Company
How about Be my Friend by free. That would be an awesome track. Suit him down to the ground.

Wish I had thought of that one.
Whipping Post.
I THINK ( & HOPE ) we're going to hear WHITE ROOM in the near future. I heard the band do it last Thursday during the sound check. It seemed like they were putting a polish on it for us. It was FLAT-OUT AWESOME !!
Both of these would be killer.
^See if one (cover song "idea") you have in mind has already been suggested!
^Then, see if any of those suggested have been performed! Have Fun!!!
Rock ON & Keep the Faith,
Rocket
I suggested Free's Mr. Big and it was performed in Newcastle 2010 when I was there

Not sure either the suggestion or the performance were the first time, Kenny. No matter, that is the idea-what has been suggested and what has actually come to pass. I think Free covers may be at the point of real consideration by joe for a "Free" pass regarding actual performance!

Will be heading to Omaha next week to see Joe, maybe some of Garth's family will be there again.
This could be Joe's next Sloe Gin :-)
Kiss Of The Gypsy - Take This Old Heart

Such a great band. One album in the early nineties then gone. What a shame.
I would love to hear Joe try Dylan's 'man in the long black coat'. Steve Hackett does a killer version of it on his 'wild orchids' album, and it would be interesting to hear Joe's take on it. For a rock-out track, I'd love to hear Joe play 'let it roll' by UFO. Joe performs Michael Schencker sounds like fun!
I think Joe could kill about anything he does , but this is just waiting for him . Love to watch Her Strut . Ripping guitar work ould be a breeze for Joe. What does everyone think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOYppTlU … 66C48A2041
I would love to hear Joe do a cover of Robin Trower's Bridge Of Sighs

Not sure if this has been suggested before and I didn't have the time or patience to look through 33 pages. I was listening to deep tracks on the satellite radio and heard this song and thought it would be great sounding for Joe to do
Somewhere, somehow, someway.
Kenny Wayne Sheppard.

I don't see Joe covering a song by somebody that is considered his peer.
I would love to hear Joe and Beth do Black Velvet.
