Topic: A huge honour

I had one of the greatest thrills and honours of my life last week.

I played the bass in this picture.

It's a 1964 Fender Jazz Bass in Burgundy Mist. Its name is Betsy and it formally belonging to John Entwhistle of the Who and latterly, Guy Pratt of Pink Floyd. Its approx value is £35-40k and it's said to be in the top 5 most valuable basses in the world. (McCartney's Hofner,  JP Jones' Precision and Bernard Edwards Stingray being 3 of the others)

Quadrophenia was recorded on it, as was Like a Prayer and Earth Song. It was played on every Floyd show from 1987- date.

I was actually trembling whilst playing ti.

"Who wants an orange whip? Orange whip? Orange whip? Three orange whips...."

JB LP Goldtop No. 290- Aged...rather like me.

Re: A huge honour

Thats a proper piece of rock history mate! Surprised it was even allowed to be plugged in! An honour indeed, hope you did it justice. :-)

Re: A huge honour

Wow! That is indeed an honor!

I touched Geddy Lee's Rickenbacker 4001 once - but never got to play it. smile

Re: A huge honour

Awesome! I can only imagine myself imagining the history of such a guitar while holding it. I wouldn't even know what to play even if I did play bass.
