Topic: Joe's strap locks

Does anyone know what Joe is using for strap locks? I've seen them in green on one of his 59's and in the newest youtube vid he had orange ones. They look like quarter sized discs of some sort. Help a brother out.

Thanks!

Re: Joe's strap locks

I want to say he uses Dunlop ones, but not positive.

I personally like the Schaller ones.

Re: Joe's strap locks

Think you will find they are the rubber tops off beer bottles such as Grolsch...

Re: Joe's strap locks

I also like the schallers... Really reliable!

Re: Joe's strap locks

Buy a 6-pack of Grolsch beer. Presto! Three instant strap lock systems.

Re: Joe's strap locks

You can buy a bag of 100 beer bottle washers online for less than what a 6-pack costs. Or head on down to your local mom and pop hardware store and buy a few rubber washers.

And yes the work very nicely!

Re: Joe's strap locks

If memory serves, on most guitars Joe uses Dunlop - and those came preinstalled on my BonaBurst.

On guitars he doesn't want to "mar" by using a larger strap lock screw, it's rubber washers - which I've heard are Grolsch beer washers just because that's kind of the classic standard for this kind of stuff! wink

And on the Music Man guitars he's got Ernie ball strap locks smile

More fun with the sixpack smile

Uhm...there's no beer in a bag of bottle washers.

Don't drink? How does that work?

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Good point.

Re: Joe's strap locks

on "collectors pieces" it makes sense to use those rubber washers. But for pieces 90's-current I switched to dunlop. Only 3 guitars left with Shaller straplocks.

I like the buttons on dunlops better than schallers so if I forget a strap w locks on it, I don't have to worry as much.

Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: Joe's strap locks

For true strap locks I also prefer the Dunlop.
