Why did you mention him then?
4 great guitarists.
I've always felt honored to have been born the same year as all of these guitarists--because guitar is my PASSION. Everyone on that list has had a HUGE impact on my playing and continue to inspire me to play everyday.
Here I go again. I'll add Aynsley Lister to the list......Cathy

Also the year that Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crashed in a swamp in Mississippi- killing singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines, and Dean Kilpatrick (LS road manager), along with both pilots... Tragic ending to the original Lynyrd Skynyrd...

Eric Gales - OUCH!
ha ha just kidding.
sorry about the 3 comment...KWS just bugs me and I won't go into why. I think Robert Randolph was born in that year as well, or at least around that time. I think these guitarists (all heavily influenced by SRV) were blossoming as musicians around the time SRV was on top of the world, and when he came to his untimely death. Probably influential events that propelled their desires to continue the tradition.
We need to drop this post, making me feel old! I was 26 in 1977!!!
Kenny Wayne shepherd = BAD**S
Philip Sayce too I believe.
Jamey,
I thought you were talking about someone else

I can't imagine what about KWS "bugs" you, but he made Joe's list as a "master in his own field" and that's good enough for me.
Hmmm.....1977....19 years old, "tore up from the floor up", dont ever want to see them demons again! Glad dem boyz wuz born tho.
October 20th 1977, I'm a young buck of 24 and on the road in Charlotte, NC on business with my boss from Computer Election Systems of Berkeley, Ca. Some of you may remember my former employer from the great vote-o-matic snafu in the 2000 election that Al Gore won, but let's not get into that. The boss and I are knockin' back some cold ones watchin' the Yankees/Dodgers world series when they interupt the broadcast to announce the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd had crashed in Mississippi. Swift and direct kick in the balls!!!! My boss can't comprehend what just came over me. I tell him I had met some of those guys at a party in Chico 3 years earlier and they were my favorite rock band and wandered off to my room in a state of disbelief. It was one of those moments that you just don't forget so it's only fitting that some great players were born that year to replace my fallen rock heroes. KWS was hooked up with Ronnie's daughter Melanie for a year or two awhile back, funny how these things happen, HUH?

What's even weirder is now KWS is married to Mel Gibson's daughter, Hannah.
Yeah heard they met in rehab and had to delay their wedding while Mel was gettin' over his demons. They probably had some advice for him.
