Topic: I am sorry to exploit

Dear Everyone,

I am sorry to exploit this forum...but rarely do I get excited by local blues guys anymore.

BUT

A band from Wiscosin is reforming.  When I was the president of the GNBS, I thought and stood up for them being the greatest blues band in Wisconsin.  Josh, the guitarist, is a riveting performer, and a cool dude.  (and a father I might add).

They have not made the changes to the website, but I promise to never exploit the board here for anything other than this band, or that other guy I like.

So...Mojo Lemon.  Is back.

Now I gotta take back the GNBS.

Re: I am sorry to exploit

Thanks for the tip Dino - I will watch for them in our area - do you by chance know who
Chris Aaron is - guitarist from Appleton ?  I haven't heard anything about him in a couple
years.  His band with Corey Sterling fell apart and I'm wondering what happened to him.

Re: I am sorry to exploit

Dear Dino..It's all good! The purpose of this thread is to share such info. Joe is a big supporter of "local" music. Keeping the blues alive is something we all share as a goal! I went to the Baltimore Blues Society's single mandatory annual meeting yesterday.  A formality more than a true meeting. Same pres for 10yrs. (he does a good job, just autocratic), same board but no meetings...anyway, I'll check them out..Cathy

Re: I am sorry to exploit

Hey Dino,
I'll try to keep an eye out for these guys. It looks like they play a lot in western WI. I live in eastern MN and I'm always on the lookout for good local or regional artists. I'm already familiar with some of the bands on their links page.

still called "The Chris Aaron Band'?  I wonder if they are still in Wisconsin - sure will
keep my eyes out for them.

I grew up in Appleton. I actually took lessons from his roomate (I believe), Dennis Shepherd. Dennis is in Nashville right now I think.

I saw Chris Aaron play Octoberfest in Appleton a couple years back. Other than that I know he used to play a club in Green Bay quite frequently. Not sure if he owned the club, was the house band or what...

Re: I am sorry to exploit

Small world!  We saw him at Octoberfest in Appleton too and other places around the
area but that was like you say, a couple years ago.  That band had a lot of potential
but has seemed to just disappear.

Re: I am sorry to exploit

Chris Aaron...the man who got taken for his own name by a manager.  Had to be called the American Standard Band for a while.  Think that was a strat referance.

Chris, like Paul Black, is one of the Wisconsin not playing out geniuses.  You know the guys.  You love them, but they just do not play enough.

Did not know about the off topic thing until tonight.

Mojo Lemon is the best blues in Wisconsin.

Someone tell Moody to bring them to Oklahoma

Re: I am sorry to exploit

from what i heard C.A. is a really good slide player, probably better at slide than normal guitar... but he rarely does it.
