Topic: Marshall JVM 410h

Hey guys,

I recently bought a JVM 410h amp and an '08 Gibson Les Paul, with a 1960 CAB.

Anyways, I wondering if Joe has used these amps at all? I've read at various places that he supposedly has been seen playing them live at a few places. So I've been wondering (if he does use them, that is) if he uses his tube screamers and what not for these? I've never had to even think of adding anything more than a sustain pedal as they're so comprehensive, versatile and just damn awesome!

My reason for asking is I just can't *quite* get the desired Joe B' sound from the thing, I'm thinking about perhaps changing a tube in it, although I know from experience with other amps and pedals (I also use a VOX Tonelab SE as a stompbox) that it doesn't make a *huge* difference in the sound.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
John

Re: Marshall JVM 410h

I've got a 210H (2 channel version), and what I do to get in the ballpark of Joe's sound, is hit the clean channel on red mode (gain set to a bit of crunch when you dig in) with some reverb, and a tube screamer type pedal out front with a good amount of gain dialed in

set the amps treble at 11:00, mids at 1:00, bass set to be appropriate to the room

then, in the loop, run a delay pedal and a chorus pedal set to thicken the sound (not actually shimmer)

then, turn up the amp and enjoy

jvm is a wonderful amp, capable of so many tones
