Topic: My Favourite SILT video (Vintage Telecaster content!!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuSPOwQ3v3c

Amazing playing and on my favourite guitar. Incredible how a guitar designed over 60 years ago for country musicians can still be relevant today. The old Tele really cuts through the mix in Joe's hands. I thought the same last week when I saw Joe play it live....you can't deny the beauty of an old single coil bridge pickup in a blackguard era Telecaster, if only Fender could replicate that tone today, but try as they may somehow it doesn't work. Is it the wood? Is it the wire? Maybe its just time and thats something we can never buy.
I still kick myself now for passing up the opportunity of buy a refin 52 Tele in 1989 for £1200....I went for the PRS Custom in a moment of youthful Vintage Yellow flame top madness and spent the next 20 years regretting it! Oh well only another 15 years before I can retire and buy one.....£12k now for a refin and £25k+ for an original....(forehead slap). In the meantime I have stellar 90's Alan Hamel built two pickup Esquire with an old set of Bardens in it.

YOUTH IS WASTED ON THE YOUNG.  smile

Nice find.  Of course, we all have made gear mistakes.  I'm still young and know I've already made a number of my own.  Most of them costly...  Thanks for sharing the vid.  2:15-2:18 and 4:22-4:25 = Licks I now have to learn!!

Wow, I think he was channeling some 90's Eric Clapton there for a second!  Still got goose bumps off of that one!

Re: My Favourite SILT video (Vintage Telecaster content!!)

I find I can get some pretty good JB-style tones off my 8502 Tele, as long as I keep the tone control down, and use an OCD.

Telecasters are awesome guitars!
