Topic: "Have you told anyone about Joe Bonamassa today?"

It seems it works...

Posted by a Dutch guy - a good friend of mine - from another forum:

"yesterday I was at the North Sea Jazz Festival - and even though the real jazz content was lowish I had a great time seeing a.o. Steely Dan, Joe Bonamassa, Reunion (Dennis Chanbers, Eric Marienthal, Jim Beard and Chuck Loeb) India Arie and Maceo Parker

esp Joe Bonamassa blew my mind - I am not normally a huge Blues fan - but this guy takes the genre to a totally new level with his superb playing - I never saw something as awesome as that - but also the music itself while grounded in Blues covered a lot of ground not usually seen with 'other Blues artists' - the most surprising of which was the final track being Los Endos in a Blues guitar rendition - very cool!!"

Re: "Have you told anyone about Joe Bonamassa today?"

I think your Dutch friend hits it right on the mark!  And I think he is precisely the type of fan Joe is trying to reach--people who don't really like the traditional blues so much, but love the way Joe does it.  After many past discussions about what the blues are, does Joe play them, etc., and hearing Joe explain his own philosophy, I finally agree and understand where he's going with the blues.  The people I try to expose to Joe now are more of the classic rock or bluesrock genre, rather than my closer friends who are really more traditional blues fans and don't get Joe.  I think I'm getting close to convincing my husband to give him another try in Wausau, by reminding him we haven't seen him since the new rythm section joined.

So, yes I am telling people about Joe Bonamassa, I just have to widen my search beyond my closest friends.

As summer is nearing it's half-way mark, I decided to change my signature quote.  And, if you drink Celestial Seasonings tea, you may recognize that I took it from the tea box.  That must suffice until I get more creative.
