Topic: I wish I coulda

My formative years of musical tastes came in the late 60's and early to mid 70's.I didn't get my first job and drivers license till 76' so I missed out on a lot of what still is my favorite music.Anyone else never get to see their favs?I thought this when reading the post on California Jam.74
Deep Purple Mark II era Machine Head era
    Rolling Stones.Mick Taylor era Maybe About when Goats Head Soup was out.Or Its Only  Rock and Roll.
     Black Sabbath Volume 4 era
      Jimi Hendrix Band Of Gypsies
     Blue Oyster Cult Secret Treaties era
      Yes Fragile era
      Al DiMeola Elegant Gypsy era
      Montrose with Sammy Hagar era
       These come to mind
I missed out on those,then came disco and skinny ties,but I never lost the love of that era's music.Just a few years too young to see it live.

Wished I'd taken a co-workers advice and gone to SF in '76 to see AC/DC in a club before Bon's demise. Never got to see Rory either. Love the skinny tie comment they went hand in hand with Angel Flight pants, silk baseball jackets, and feathered 'do's. Thank God there's not a slew of Classic Disco stations as there are Classic Rock.

I guess I was lucky 'cuz I was able to see Humble Pie, Procul Harem, The Who, Thin Lizzy, Led Zepplin, Wishbone Ash and a few others before the notables either died or left the band. Also saw Al DiMeola during his heyday opening for Kenny Loggins of all people at U.C.Berkeley. We left after Al's set. One of the best acts I remember seeing was Ike & Tina Turner who came on before Wishbone Ash. Talk about high energy!

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

I still have my Rush t-shirt from seeing them in 1978 on the tour for Hemispheres - does that count? smile

I saw SRV around that time - he was honestly not at his best - later in the same tour he fell off the stage (drunk)

That was my starting popular music era and I saw quite a few in the mid 60' and on that are considered icons of R&R. Highlight was probably seeing Hendrix in the local HS auditorium for 4 or 5 bucks.

.....gone to the Rolling Stones concert I had tickets for in 81 down San Diego way.   Was 8 months pregnant and did not feel comfortable going.

thanks Gary for the topic. I think we've done this before but always a good trip down memory lane. I did get to see the Stones with Mick, Exile on Main Street with opening act Stevie Wonder. cool And saw Yes in that heyday, along with Al D but he was solo at that time (tremendous acoustic set).
Regrets:
SRV / Jeff Beck together circa 1988 ?
Jimi - I was too young and he never got closer than Atlanta
Little Feat w/ Lowell - I did get to see them sans Lowell many years later, opening act Jeff Healey, a hell of a show
QUEEN w/Freddie - this one hurts the most, my fav band of all and it just didn't happen. pulled out the Live at Wembley DVD  last night, one of the best shows I have ever seen without being there, just sensational on every level

Being 21, I've missed out on seeing a lot of people perform. But I have been pretty lucky when it comes to seeing most of my heroes.

Clapton, Bob Dylan, Joe Bonamassa, and Buddy Guy I have seen in concert.

Plus going to Crossroads in 2010 was like a nice little sampler of all my favorite players.

My ex wife had scored Madona tickets back around 89 I think.Had some decent seats  but Madonna cancelled the show.Lost her voice I think. Ut she was  at her high point then and was looking forward to the spectical.

Been luck i guess, seen most i've ever wanted to go and see.
However, there's  been a few that have slipped through my fingers.
Van Halen, for one, Dire Straits is another. Hendrix - wanted to go to Isle of Wight Festival - parents said NO!!!!
