Topic: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

I missed Joe Walsh last summer with the James Gang.  I just found out he's coming in the beginning of August with The Bruce Willis Blues Band.  The way the lineup was worded in the paper, it says Joe Walsh with The BWB.  Has anyone seen these guys together or have any of Bruce's music?

Re: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

Angela:  Just so happens that a friend of mine recently shared a recording off of YouTube from the Letterman show with Bruce playing harmonica with Robben Ford and I think the LN band...a cool instrumental called "Tenth Avenue Tango".  See http://youtube.com/watch?v=iigXHUozaUo

In researching it and trying to find an audio copy, I found out that he had apparently released an album of Motown songs back around the time of Moonlighting...was fairly well reviewed.  Probably be a cool show.

On a related note...I just watched "Over the Hedge" and he is great in it.

Re: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

Thanks Carl.  I knew Bruce had some CD's out and was interested in hard rockin' blues...Never saw "Over The Hedge", but I saw most of the Jackal once...my 2 sons liked it, which bothered me at the time...  I wonder if Bruce has discovered Joe yet?  When Joe last did a show in Idaho, I was wondering if it was near Bruce's homestead.  I think Bruce must have filmed something recently in Philly because he was in the paper and the article said he is active online under some pseudo-screen names, which they mentioned in the article.  Anyone know if Joe likes Bruce Willis the actor?  I remember reading about Steven Seagal (sp?) really being into the blues and has a blues band.

Re: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

I've never heard any of Bruce's music, but Bruce is like really good friends with a guy that owns a club called the Windjammer and that club is like right down the road from me. and I heard that he plays there all the time and no one ever notices that he's a big celebrity. haha. I wanna find out when hes playin there next. they said he just jams out on his harmonica. awesome.

Re: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

He was on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, promoting Live Free Or Die Hard. They're both from the Jersey area, and they got to talking about this nuclear plant. Bruce used to be a security guard, and he would work the night shift, and would use the pa system and jam on his harmonica throughout the entire plant, and his supervisor would get on to him about that. So, apparently, Bruce has been playing harmonica way before he became a world-famous actor.

Re: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

I never saw Bruce's band in person, but have all his music.  Does anyone know where he'll be touring in 2008?  I keep missing him by days because I can't seem to find a list of tour dates and locations.  If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks!

Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band, great name. As Forrest said, "Jenny touched me in ways I'd never been touched before."

Re: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

I heard about the Bruce Willis Band, but never got to hear any songs! I can just see Bruce doin' the blues-rock thing smile....what instrument does he play?

Re: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

Okay,  I have the Bruce Willis records, and have seen him in concert.

Bruce plays harp, and sings.

I fearfully say, that of all the celebrity bands I have endured, his was the best.

I used to do this on my radio show, play one of the tracks off of one his records, and ask people if they liked it.  Without telling them who it was.  Just make them comment on music.  Usually blues people liked it.

Bruce is cool on stage

Re: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

I agree that there are many celebs that think they can be musicians as well and most are not that good, but Bruce and his band are very talented and I love the blues!  Do you know when/where they might be performing?  I would really love to see Bruce and the band in person.  He is the only singer/group that I haven't seen and really want to.  Thanks!:)

Re: Joe Walsh w/ Bruce Willis Band

brunolover-thanks for reminding me that I missed this show.  sad  Maybe someone in Joe's camp can invite Bruce to a show near Idaho or wherever, let him hang on the wings of the stage and then invite him for a few songs to play harp.  big_smile  A big thanks again to Joe Beacon for giving me a Joe Walsh fix to ease the pain. smile Bruce has New Jersey roots, there's been a rumor going around that he recently bought a house here, but I think its rumor.  His hometown was in financial decline, he has helped support it.

I know Kevin Bacon has a band with his brother, mainly acoustic guitar.  I don't know how much he tours or if he stays closeby (NY), but he has played at one of the same venues as Joe in Pennsy. I've read Kevin is in more of a Mr. Mom role while his wife's TV show is taking off.  Kevin's dad held high court in Philadelphia for many years & was well respected, when Kevin was younger & growing up here.   There was a really nice article about Kevin & his bro and songwriting in a local mag, it was very interesting.  He admires Bob Dylan's songwriting abilities.

Hey Dino, thanx for that. Harp of all instruments.....dig it! I think Bruce was a natural-born musician before ever becoming a celeb right?!

Okay, I just saw that Joe will be performing at BB King's in NY on October 24th.  Does anyone know if Bruce and his band will be there as well?  Please let me know.  Thanks!:)
