Topic: RIP JIM MARSHALL

Very sad to hear the news, we were down at Marshall HQ just a few days ago. It is a huge place but feels like a small family run business, which must be a legacy of Jims.
Thanks for the ability to piss off the sound man......Turn it up and PLAY IT LOUD.

Re: RIP JIM MARSHALL

RIP Jim. Lovely guy, always had time for everyone. Happy memories of chatting amps with him at guitar shows in the 90's.

Re: RIP JIM MARSHALL

Such sad news! Never had the pleasure of meeting Jim, but what a guy! A tragic day for music - R.I.P. Jim

Re: RIP JIM MARSHALL

Didn't know Jim was a drummer starting out. As others have said, sad day indeed.
Thanks to the 'Guardian' for giving Joe a name check.

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Joe comments about Marshall's passing on BBC.

Re: RIP JIM MARSHALL

Quite saddened by the loss of the genius Jim.  My condolences to amplification aficionados  and universally inspired players, yes also, those whose imitations, or shall we say Incorporations are the sincerest form of flattery. Most especially I give my condolences to his immediate family, other family, and family of good friends.  Jim acheived the most coveted "Acceptance" that ascends the status as legendary.  To those I say Rock ON & do not Distort the Faith, or is it the Distortion IS the Faith?! To amplify my speech here, I am speaking only of amplifiers, not core value beliefs type faith (at least not primarily, but, for example, regarding amps, the faithful reproduction of the distortion can be faithfully relied on! )

Thanks for the main topic insertion Martin.  Thanks for the BBC link Bonawho59.

Respectfully Dedicated Love, Prayers, & Faith,
Rocket

Re: RIP JIM MARSHALL

There are no words to properly express appreciation for someone who, more than any other single person, shaped the soundtrack of my adolescence.  The man was the da Vinci of !@#% loud.  The heavenly hosts will be cranking it to "11" today, for sure.  R.I.P., sir...and thank you.

Re: RIP JIM MARSHALL

Les Paul probably needed an amp.

Re: RIP JIM MARSHALL

R.I.P. Jim....you have helped launch many many great acts in the 60's/70's ........ the tower of sound with the Marshall Stacks!

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: RIP JIM MARSHALL

I know it was already posted here but the Gear page seemed a good place too.  Rest in Peace Jim and thanks for all the wonderful work you did to effect the music we love.

Re: RIP JIM MARSHALL

I couldn't believe it when I heard it. A great man has passed away. There would be so many guitar players who would have a whole other sound if the Marshalls weren't there. Marshall amplifiers are an icon for influence of guitar music. And it was thanks to this guy, Jim Marshall.

RIP
