Topic: Hello from Germany!
Greetings from the Rheinland-Pfalz region of Germany! My name is Rob Chapman. Originally from North Collins, NY, I grew up in the military and moved a lot. Ultimately I joined the Air Force myself. Between Southwest Asia, Africa, Korea, and Europe (mostly Germany), I have been outside the USA longer than inside for the past 20+ years. Now 38 years old, I have been married to my wonderful wife of 10 years, and was blessed with our daughter 6 months ago.
I grew up listening to Blues Music. Always on the lookout for the next big thing. I first heard of Joe Bonamassa through a friend upon the release of “Sloe Gin” and have been hooked ever since. Now, having all his albums, I am still amazed that his name isn’t bigger than it is. But, I feel that will change quite soon.
It’s not often to get a big name this close to us stationed at Ramstein. So when I heard Joe would be playing in Saarbrücken, I jumped right on tickets. When I asked my colleagues if they would like to go as well, most just said “Who”? For the few of us that did go…it was a treat. Timing was perfect as we first saw his guitar tech taking a break outside. Great guy Mike…great conversation. Shortly after, Joe pulled up…Helluva guy....took the time to chat for a while. About two minutes later, we were invited in for the sound check. When that was over, we toured the stage and checked out Joe’s guitars/rig with Mike. An hour later, the best show Saarbrücken has seen in years. It was incredible.
