Topic: Loop Station - Where On The Board Should It Go

Just picked up a Boss RC2 Loop Station and having a lot of fun with it, but I have no idea where I should place it on my board.  As with most boards I have my wah, overdrive & distortion pedals up front and modulation pedals at the end.  My Plexi has an effects loop but my Fender combos do not.

So the question is, where should I place the loop station?  And will it differ from a Plexi with an effects loop to a Fender combo without?

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

I have been curious about placement.  The pedal records whatever is input into it, so whatever effects are on the output side affect the recorded signal before it enters the amp.  So, I put it last in my chain just before amp, which is just a Vox AC15C1 with no effects loop.  At least until I can do better.

I would suggest that as with delay pedals it is likely to be best in the effects loop allowing you to re-configure for playing on top of a recorded loop or last if this isn't possible.

Re: Loop Station - Where On The Board Should It Go

I also struggle with this. Hooked up in front of the amp, it seems to make the amp buzzy for some reason, or at least I've noticed it's quieter without out.

The effects loop makes sense because then you could loop a clean sound and solo over it dirty. Just haven't tried it yet.

I bought the RC2 so I could do solo acoustic gigs and be able to solo over my own looped rhythm, but I have a very hard time syncing the beginning and end of the riff hmm any hints would be helpful!

I get a slight buzz/interference too.   I haven't been playing with it long enough, but I have found it difficult to get timing down.  I usually have to play through riff once to time my pedal tap to record and tap stop at the exact moment in the riff that I tapped record.  Takes some practice.   I can normally get it really close, sometimes it's perceptable, sometimes not.

I am no expert by any stretch and I am sure there is an easier way.

I have seen people do loops with the green Line 6 DL4 delay and that seems easier hmm I'm contemplating trading for one of those since I don't need 16 recorded presets etc.
