Re: Philip Sayce Fans Here?
I have seen some tepid reviews of Steamroller. Some good some so so.I don't have it.Wondering if its worth getting. The 35 min thing is unusual in todays market.Could have been an ep

I really liked Innerevolution but am struggling a bit with Steamroller. Maybe needs another couple of listens but can't say im a fan of the distortion in his voice and even the guitar in a few of the songs.
Live though... i think it would be good!

Are you going to see him at The Garage in Glasgow on 21st April?

I'm not planning on it at the moment, due to be working away at the time. Would be one I'd happily take a trip down to though if things change.

Afraid to say I agree. I'll persevere with Steamroller but at the moment it just sounds like a lot of noise.
Hey Folks, how was Sayces show yesterday in Bochum? I know some of you forumheads have been there! A review, please!
Show was great!! The new songs are doing very well on stage!!! The house was nice filled, but not packed. Philip allmost played the entire cd with just a few old songs. A lot of energy and beautifull emotions with the ballads. Philip is good a having fun with the audience. If you ask for a slow blues song, you get... some heavy stuff (or the other way round haha). He had problems with the amp, we had to listen what sound came out even when he didn't play. I said "Aliens!" and then he answered "Yeah aliens" and made a LOT of noice (to scare the aliens?). The entire show was fun, but the encore was breathtaking. Alchemy sitting on stage right in front of me, whooohoo! He sold a lot of cd's and took the time to talk to the fans. He really is a nice person. Then the teenagers took over the place (discoooo) and we had to leave.
Thanks for the review, sounds great! Will see him next wednesday in Hamburg!
Nice Bibi! Nothing like Alchemy from up close. I remember it well.

Yeah, great show of Philip Sayce at Zeche Bochum.
I watched the show in safe distance of the loudspeakers at a stair in the back where you have an excellent view on stage and where the sound is best in my opinion. I could still see Beth Hart on stage and hear her voice ... but on Saturday it was time for Philip Sayce.
Excellent sound even with the Aliens in Philip's Amp. No earplugs needed
I'm not so lucky with the new album but I have to admit that the songs of Steamroller work very well live. Only one thing, Philip didn't play Steamroller! It stood on the setlist but he decided not to play it. So we got Alchemy as last song. But who will complain about Alchemy?
After the concert while we stood at the merch to talk a bit, teenies dressed to kill rolled in and took over the place.
Bibi, you didn't mention that you took over the merch before the show !!!

Yeah! Bibi rules... sometimes... just a little bit... hahaha
Compared to his previous releases I am really disappointed with his new album. Smokin live act though, would loved to have managed Glasgow tomorrow.
Great gig last night in Glasgow. He concentrated mainly on the Steamroller tracks (fine by me, I think it's a great album) with a couple of covers and some older stuff too, Alchemy was the encore.
Good interaction with the crowd, making comments about the curfew, "We have to finish early so they can let in all the people to take ecstasy and dance about like assholes!"
He took time out after the gig to sign stuff and chat to the fans too. My friend and I met Philip in the late afternoon in a take away near the venue and he was happy to chat for a while, he's a really nice, down to earth guy.
Went to three Philip sayce gigs last week. Heres a few videos from the sheffield gig. He was awesome.

One month ago was Philip's tourstart in Isernhagen at the Blues Garage. Went to 6 gigs in 3 1/2 weeks and loved every second!!! Next to Joe he's my absolute favourite at this time.

Just in case I didn't notice....
Philip will be touring as support to ZZ Top this summer!! Last year he did so with Deep Purple, which made him a lot of new fans. So this is also very good!
Unfortunately not that close to where I live....

That'snteresting since I would think they are not part of same record company.
