Topic: BB King Chicago House Of Blues 3-23-12

BB King played a packed HOB Fri night in Chicago. Now I have only seen him once before.Joe opened up for him and KWS at Northen Illinos University back around 06 or 07.He was 80 then and still putting on a good performance albeit slowing down quite a bit...He is now 86 and still can play and sing.He does have to pace himself,so there is a lot of dialogue and storytelling going on between songs. The crowd didn't seem to care as they hung on every word.A very enthusiastic crowd it was,What I didn't expect is that there was a lot of 20-30 somethings in the crowd.
He has an oustanding 6 pc backing band.Very tight and showed off their skills with a few instruemental songs toi start the show. They  straddle the line between blues and jazz and were just perfect.BB still has the tone and was able to play some tasteful licks. It was real music still being played by a real band. You could tell how much BB likes still being on stage and was soaking in the love from he crowd. His main songs were The Thrill is Gone and Rock Me Baby.Rock me turned into a Sing along. He came back and asked the crowd later if thet wanted some more Rock Me Baby.I think they played a total of 6 songs with BB taking breaks to talk to the crowd. At the end he asked if we would have back again.I think the answer was yes please don't leave us yet.
