2 years or so ago, when we (in PA) had a tone of snow, Spring came early in March too. Green grass, warm temps- fine by me!

Was thinking the same thing....freaky.  We've had the AC on since wednesday.  Starting to get worried about this year's summer that's already here.

Re: its summer in Chicago and Im scared

It's alright for you, I have to fly to Florida to get that. We dream of 80's in northern UK, we get 3 or 4 days over 80 if we are lucky.

Re: its summer in Chicago and Im scared

I agree Gary, we have gone from sort of a winter straight into summer. I am ready to open the pool and it's still officially winter! Been sleeping with the windows open and the fan on and still a bit warm. I am thinking we are going to pay dearly for it this summer...bugs, bugs, bugs.

Re: its summer in Chicago and Im scared

We had that same weather 2 weeks ago, temps into the mid '80's here in NorCal. Winter returned with a vengence and it has rained all week with more on the way. Today's forecast, thunderstorms and snow @ 2-3 thousand feet and local rivers are approaching flood stages. The San Lorenzo River which meets the Pacific Ocean @ the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk shifted it's course running behind the Boardwalk and threatening the amusement rides. Hopefully it won't wreck the Big Dipper, the oldest wooden roller coaster on the West Coast, many memories there.

Big, Giant, doesn't matter, it's such a bone jarring ride I can't endure it any more. We rode it with my son about 8 years ago and it took a week and handfuls of vycodin to get my back right.Just saw another news report and the river is washing the sand they're trucking in away as fast as they dump it.

Yeah, my last ride was when the youngest was 13 or so and a birthday wish was granted. The wood ones are the best. Shake, rattle and roll (and pray the termites keep on holding hands). Hope the sucker survives. Fun relics of yesteryear.
edit: Your storm just blew in with snow down to 2k feet and 2" of rain on the coast. Got a St. Patty's day corned beef simmering in the slow cooker to warm the kitchen. We're hunkered down like the rest of the left coast. We just left the Coach House last night as the first mist started. Managed to stay ahead of it for the hour drive. Go see Rod and his band if they come near. We haven't had that much fun in ages. Just Stellar!

Re: its summer in Chicago and Im scared

I hear ya Gary! If the summer is as above normal in temp as the winter, my a/c bill will equal my mortgage payment!! It is so weird to have my bulbs blooming already, yet the trees aren't green! I love four distinct seasons and feel a bit ripped off so far. Where I live we need a hard freeze to kill all the pests. Mother Earth is not happy sad      Cathy

Well, sitting here in sunny Durham, its a cool-ish 11Centipedes or 52Fairylights, so about right for mid-March.

Gary - don't know so much about us in the UK having crazy weather; where I am, we've only had one snowfall this winter of any significance, though a lot of areas are complaining already of water shortages (on an island!?!).

Personally I think all the Wind Farms that have shot up over the last few years are to blame; we've had some really strong wind storms this season, nudging hurricane scale - obviously the wind turbines have been pushing all the bad weather back where it came from....

I was in Chicago, August 2006 when it was hitting 40C in the city and folk were running round then like it was the end of the world - a year later and they were ready to build arks in Grant Park...so becareful what you wish for....

Somewhat unusual weather for Chicago, but I've lived here all my life and don't know anyone here that thinks the worlds going to end because we get unusual temps or heavy rain. It's half expected here...must have been tourists, lol.

Re: its summer in Chicago and Im scared

We just had one of the heaviest snowstorms in recent memory in Southern Cali. Snow in Malibu, a couple of feet in our backcountry in LA/SD. Bring on that warming.

Re: its summer in Chicago and Im scared

My son in Indy reports glorious summer weather, expected to go into the 80's tomorrow. If we're very, very lucky, we might just hit 60 (16C) later in the week.
