Topic: hello from canada

my name is ian from the snowy sticks in canada. i am a big jeff beck fan and have heard of mr. bonamassa but never heard his music. that all changed last night when i channel surfed to pbs and saw him at the beacon theater. to put it bluntly i was absolutely stunned. i am trying to come up with a superlative to say but all i can think of is just WOW. i hope someone can recommend a cds of something new old and live, being where i live it will be almost impossible to find anything from mr.bonamassa so i will have to order them from this site witch is probably a good thing.

Re: hello from canada

Welcome BigBlock. Yes, Wow is the usual response. smile For a starter, Live From Nowhere In Particular is a good jumpoff point, and fills the bill of old and live. From there on, there's not one cd you won't like. A basic start would incluce a couple of live dvd's, RockPalast for some early power trio work and Royal Albert Hall both will blow your socks off. Joe has some newly announced stops on the fall tour in Canada. Check those out and see if they are near. Joe live is a totally unexplainable experience to the unititated. I'll just say go. You can use my link to the store below my signature, I'll get a small commission which I'm saving up to get some Bonababy onesies for some coming gks. You can also check the link on my sig for my youtube channel where you'll find some home vid of live acts of Joe's I shot myself.
Don't be shy and jump right in to the forum. See you soon.

Re: hello from canada

Ian - Welcome.  If the PBS show was the same one I saw, they had a package of stuff that included the Live at the Beacon DVD, the Dustbowl CD and the Live from Nowhere in Particular CD.  I would start with that and then there's the Roayl Albert Hall DVD that is amazing as well.

Re: hello from canada

The beauty of being a newer fan is that there are so many albums to check out! (this is what I tell myself since I'm late to the party) Between the 12 (or is it 13?) albums, DVDs, etc. It's like the best Christmas ever!

The first studio album I purchased was You and Me, and it is amazing through and through. And you absolutely cannot go wrong with the live albums.

Re: hello from canada

Welcome Bigblock. And, as others have mentioned, if it is possible do try to see him live. 'Transformational' apparently, although in my limited experience he's a lot better than that!
