Topic: Anthony Gomes Upgrade

Just caught wind of Anthony adding my buddy Scot Sutherland to his act on bass guitar. Scot just recently left The Tommy Castro Band where he won Best Blues Bass Player  from the Blues Music Awards. I knew it wouldn't be long before somebody hooked up with him after Tommy reorganized his act last month. Ana Popovic was the first to contact Scot, but that didn't pan out, but playing with Anthony is a great match IMO. I wish Anthony would play the West Coast more, it's been about 4 years since I last saw him.

He combines the soul/blues & rock in a nice mix for sure...

Anthony Gomes is always a great artist & performer....His new Cd is out in a few weeks...I'll have to look for it & his tour

I marked my calendar that Anthony Gomes will release a new CD in March.
Would be great to see him here in Europe.

Anthony will be playing in Des Moines,IA  @ House of Bricks on .April 7th and Scot Sutherland will be there, too......too cool coincidence....Scot is from Des Moines and I found out thru Photogal (Rhonda) that Scot and I know some of the same Des Moines musicians.....I'm looking forward to meeting him at the show and will be great to see Anthony again!

Anthony's new CD will be officially released on March 6th, and can be ordered through his website. www.anthonygomes.com

He is working on getting some dates on the west coast, so keep your eyes on the website or his facebook page.

I saw the show this past Sunday at BB's Jazz Blues and Soups in St. Louis, and only Scots second show with Anthony, with no prior rehearsals.... all I can say is WOW!!!

I still have family in the greater Cleveland area, all McLaughlins on my Mother's side. If i get back home one of these days I'm definitely stopping by, I hear it's a great spot for pre-game fun when the Tribes @ home.

I love Scot!  He is sooooo entertaining to watch live.  The man just lives through his music.  You can tell its not a just a way to make a living.  Congrats to both Scot and Anthony.

Got my copy of Anthony Gomes - Up 2 Zero in the mail yesterday. this may be his best cd since his first Technicolor Blues. I saw Anthony a number of years ago at the Oklahoma Blues Festival and was very impressed with his show and liked the 2 cds I bought there at that time (Sweet Soul Singin and Unity). I tried ti follow him after that but the cd releases after that were lacking. This new cd really revitalizes how I view him. He will be doing a free show in Waterford Wi this August and I will be front and center.

This is one killer cd - do yourself a favor and pick it up.

Thanks for the recommendation.  His live CD kinda left me cold and I lost interest.  Time to see what he's done lately.

Sorry should have known the forum was all over this. May go to see him in July. Playing bluesfest in Rockland ME. Needs a little polish but a great guitar player.

Well for whatever reason Scot gave notice on Facebook that as of Aug. 6th he will no longer be with Anthony Gomes. Perhaps Photogal can shed some light on this development, or not. I'm sure Scot will hook up with another quality act in need of a killer bass player, unless he is looking to stay closer to home and his family. Not to fired up to get Anthony to the Left Coast as I was.
