Excellent project! When you order pickups give a fellow Aussie a shout. sliderspickups@bigpond.com I bet Rod (Slider) would be happy to help you. Tell him Andy sent you.

...and don't wish you were older. Enjoy your youth. Enjoy your life. Enjoy today!

Well I'm not far off 50 (47th birthday coming up soon) - and I'd be glad to trade you! smile

Good luck on the project - amazing the information available on the Interwebz these days - when I was your age there was a whole lot more guesswork going on in a project like this.

What's your design goals?  Keep posting the updates - can't wait to see it develop!

Love it!  Have a blast on the project.  As for Schools I'm 30 now but when I was in school I took Metal Fabrication and myself and 2 other guys built a tandem axle Trailer from the ground up!  If you ever read my posts grammer and spelling were not my strong suit in skool ;P

cheers guys, will make it a dual humbucker model, will either use SD JB/59 or another PAF style set, looking for affordability/tone here.... SD's will probably be the best value for money.

www.guitarfetish.com good cheap affordable humbuckers and more.  Get a neck for the project if you want.

Looking to maybe do a steve morse style pickup configuration, just trying to trying to track down a pickguard that could accomodate 2 singles and a humbucker (will have the bridge hb in the bridgeplate).

Pickup ideas for the singles/humbuckers? .....was thinking of putting a tele neck pickup in there somewhere....

Re: Video of the Telecaster I've built as a school project (view page 2)

How about a TV Jones in there somewhere.  I got a Telecaster I built with a TV Jones Power'tron bridge pickup and a GFS Firebird mini humbucker in the neck.  I love it.  The TV Jones has the twang and the bark and the mini humbucker is all Bark no bite so its really wild switching back and foward.  The crazy thing was the 2 combined made this sound so heavenly.  You can clearly hear both pickups working together and I couldn't have found a better pair up if I tried!  Its my favorite guitar for playing original stuff because its so unique sounding.

cool idea!!

Even if I don't do it this time, will definitely try it in the future!!!

Was thinking maybe just SD JB/Jazz and a Fender set of tele pickups together along with a 4 pole/5 way selector and an extra mini toggle to cover most fender/gibson sounds!!

Cheers mate!!

Re: Video of the Telecaster I've built as a school project (view page 2)

Wow thats a lotta pickups!  Should cover a lot of ground.

Re: Video of the Telecaster I've built as a school project (view page 2)

Mini toggles look cool, gives you that custom appearance! Could do a high end roll off/cut switch or something next to it.
