Re: PBS airing "Live at the Beacon"

In Detroit Joe was great during the Meet & Greet.  He was patient with everyone, but there was easily 80 people there.  Most of them PBSers.  This isn't 2007 any more!

The cool thing was that the venue recognized the size of the crowd and set up a table for Joe to sit behind.  And Joe wasn't having any of that.  He walked out to the crowd and worked his way down the line.  He did everything you could ask for given the situation.  He worked it out.

Back on topic though, I can't watch it on PBS.  I want to see it for the first time on my DVD player without pledge breaks or editing.

The show aired on WTTW Chicago had no interviews with Joe. Like Jim said, an hour of music and a half hour of the host gushing about Joe and asking for donations. They also auctioned off and Epiphone signed by Joe. I'll have to review the show (I recorded it), but I think it went for about $3000.

They showed the studio interview here. I think maybe they did that for the markets he is playing this spring. He did a specific spot for the OKC show. They blew through the allotment of M&G tickets in the first half. They scrolled across the screen names and donations. A lot of $200's and $250 donations started showing up.  Don't know if they are holding back anymore for future airings but I counted about 25 pairs M&G. No guitar auction here.

DVD and cd package only here in San Diego. Not looking good for a fall show. hmm I missed it but a buddy didn't and gave a glowing report, especially the Hiatt number.

Re: PBS airing "Live at the Beacon"

I watched Joe Live at the Beacon on PBS this past weekend and it was so cool.  I can't wait for the new DVD to be released so I can see the entire show.  One of the highlights for me was to hear 'The River' again.  Although it's an abbreviated version of the DVD, it was so surreal seeing Joe being interviewed during the breaks and being his normal witty self.

Re: PBS airing "Live at the Beacon"

Finally saw this last night (taped last weekend).  This was done for Rhode Island PBS - but no interview for us even though there is a show in Providence May 22.  I agree with Susan - so nice to hear The River again.  We had seen Joe the night before these shows in Boston and I was so hoping he would play that song, but no luck.

I have come to the conclusion after watching this that I need a bigger TV.  Hope there are more audience shots in the full-length version.  Great video.

Re: PBS airing "Live at the Beacon"

BUMP PBS WETA is rerunning the Beacon Show. Joe is on talking about his family, career, etc. I don't know if concert tix are available with pledges. Cathy

Re: PBS airing "Live at the Beacon"

Watching again on PBS from D.C. I also see it's on MPT at the end of Sept. It's scheduled for 1.5hrs which means it's a fund raiser. Not sure if tix will be offered, but if so, grab them. Great seats and a tax deduction smile   YES!!! 300$ for 2 tix, $500 for tix and a M&G.    Cathy
