Topic: Joe's signature Goldtop

Hey guys.

I watched the Live From the Beacon Theater last night on PBS.  I noticed last night, and have noticed in other clips, that Joe doesn't play his signature goldtop much anymore!  Is that due to his new models in different colors?  Is it just a matter of preference to him or is there something wrong with his goldtop?  I just identify Joe with a goldtop.  But, on the other hand, the other LP's I've seen him play are beautiful!

Too many guitars to choose from?  smile

Re: Joe's signature Goldtop

I have noticed that Joe likes to change it up for each new tour, new songs, new guitars, new gear, and new wardrobe.  Joe just likes to keep things fresh and new for his fans. Joe toured with two of his Goldtops #1 and #52. #52 was broken once already by an airline. Joe is sharing some of the new to him, Vintage Las Paul’s with us lately. I’M sure we will see Joe with his Goldtop in the lineup once again someday and I am sure that it will be carry-on when he does.

Take care,
Bill

Re: Joe's signature Goldtop

Don't get me wrong.  I love seeing all of his new gear!!  The new vintage LP's are GREAT!  Just didn't know if there was anything wrong with the goldtops.  Haven't seen him on tour this year yet so I was just curious.  I love that he likes to bring out new guitars for his fans.  I loved wondering what guitar he was going to bring out next at a show.

I think he is synonymous with the goldtop LP.  When I think about Joe's guitars I always think the goldtop.  Loving the new burst guitars though!  Wish they would make an Epi version in that color!  I have an Epi goldtop.  Just can't justify paying that much for a Gibson.

Most definitely, but I guess when you have 3 vintage LPs, you might as well get your money's worth of playing time on them!

Re: Joe's signature Goldtop

exactly!!

Re: Joe's signature Goldtop

I always think of the goldtop as joes guitar due the fact  he recorded bojh album which became his break through album , so I like the fact I own one and thanks to that guitar he's associated with Gibson!! and the world knows that!! There something special about a gold guitar , sunbursts are amazing but I really think the goldtop is leaps and bounds better only for the fact that it means more in the bonamassa story!!

Re: Joe's signature Goldtop

Those guitars are his babies but come on he just spent a years pay on a couple of 59's and 60' Les Paul!  If you had those at your disposle would you play a $4000 guitar with your name on it?

Re: Joe's signature Goldtop

I do believe he used a JB Goldtop on The River.

But like AD3THREE said, Vintage 59' LP >>>>>>>>> anything else.
