Re: Original Gibson Les Paul 58

1958 there where 434 guitars made (some goldtops, some bursts).

And the value, who knows? What a buyer would like to pay i believe.

Re: Original Gibson Les Paul 58

I used to be halfway well read on this topic, but on this topic details matter!

Here's a link I quickly googled up that has pretty good details for you: http://home.provide.net/~cfh/lpsun.html

As to what one would be worth... the market is always in flux - prices came down (with most everything else) in 2008 - and then the price of a particular one will depend on it's condition, how stock it still is, etc.

Enjoy!

Excellent article and mouthwatering photos. Thanks for that, now if only the lottery.............

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Original Gibson Les Paul 58

If you want to see some pics, then google "Greg Martin" (of the Kentucky Headhunters) - he has a 58 burst that he regularly tours with.  Not much figure in the wood, but it's a genuine 58 burst!

Re: Original Gibson Les Paul 58

If you have your eye on one, I would recommend you contact Joe Ganzler. He is a Burst expert and can authenticate it for you. He is not cheap, but well worth the investment when you are looking at an expensive guitar.

According to an artical in Vintage Guitar Mag there will be a Greg Martin LP model in the near future. THAT should be super sweet.
