I thought the negativity was about the cost of the airtime. It showed the options that Apple marketing never thought of and the possible creative ways to use it. It did suggest that Apple may have missed the mark though.

Agreed. Great products. I like the fan-out of the application ideas presented though. Using your PDA as a hotspot seems very cool. Especially since you are already paying for the airtime. This may hurt Apple's profit structure though. A big part is the planned residuals from bandwidth sales commissions. The actual profit on the hardware is usually quite small.

As it happens, I'm using a new Ipad at this moment. It's pretty cool, although nothing more than a large I-touch. This one belongs to a friend and the main reason his wife bought it for him is that he's going into the hospital for chemo treatment and it'll be great for downloading movies to watch. Much easier to hold than a typical laptop. It's also a better format for reading compared to a Kindle in my opinion.
It's very easy to use and anyone who has an I-phone or I-touch will have no problems navigating. Overall, I think it'll be another hit for Apple but ,may take awhile to catch on. Get your Apple stock now if you haven't already.

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

As the BBC article said, not launched in Europe yet..... but i will take a trip down to my Apple Store, to give one a test drive... for sure!

I tried one. My co-worker got it.

They are MUCH faster than the iPhone. I liked it. The finger response is more sensitive.
Although, I'm not sure if the cost is justified... it does what it DOES very well. Liked it much more than the Kindle. But these are two really different products.

i had a chance to use a co workers iPad.

it was alot of fun.very finger responsive... and fast.
I'd like one, but the functionality is limited, I already have an iPhone, and I can't justify the cost.

I was sure I'd get one by the end of the month (my parents are going to San Francisco on vacation) but it's less certain now. I just called the SF Apple Retail Store and they don't have any. They couldn't tell me when they are supposed to get a few ones sad
