Re: To Watch This Video You Must Share It First

I know Joe reads the forum. I don't know if he venture all the way down to Off Topics regularly. He reads it because he wants feedback. You can't get any better than this.

So far it is civil and a with bit of venting going.  We do tolerate criticism here. However it is not so much what you say but how you say it. Constructive criticism is welcomed just don't beat a dead horse doing it.

We have said what needed to be said about the share video promotion. The JBXP complaints voiced here hopefully will reach the right people. I don't think we should turn this thread into a total JBXP #@$@# fest. If they don't want to listen to it there I doubt they will listen to it here.

Agree with Jim. I know that Joe doesn't/can't have the time to read everything on the forum, so I took the liberty of arranging to draw his attention to the issues raised by Pearl.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but I have to say I am not a fan of pointing people to discussions here, particularly in off topics. There are a couple of reasons for that, depending on who it is being pointed in the direction. I don’t say anything here I want kept private obviously but there is a certain context that aids in understanding intent. Goodbye subtle nuance....and yes
I do realize the irony some may see as true in that. For those who do ‘get’ me :

Even with Pearl’s description of her personal experience on JBXP, it sure doesn’t give the whole of that experience by any means. Not to minimize her words at all but this thread doesn’t tell the whole story of any of the subjects that have come up around each bend of it. A solution hasn’t come from attempts previously so perhaps a different tact might be more successful.

I wonder if sending one’s concerns to Roy at J&R might not be more appropriate than forcing Joe’s hand so to speak? In the article in Classic Rock it seemed quite clear this is his dept. not Joe’s so to speak although in the end its Joe's reputation at stake i think many here are saying. I really don’t think pointing Roy here is a good solution as I am all for the preservation of the forum. Its not clear if he reads anything here and I fear if he doesn’t, it would come across as being what is reflecting poor on Joe as opposed to what most here are attempting to explain : that some of the marketing ( which includes JBXP by its methods ) is  doing so itself by many accounts. Of course there is plenty of evidence of many here and of office staff reflecting positively on Joe and helping other fans do the same. This thread doesn’t reflect all of that on its own.

I wonder if perhaps sending Joe a private message would serve the purpose of giving him information it seems he should have and leave that off forum? I’m not sure but since this thread has become a target in a way now, I was compelled to point those things out where I was resisting the urge otherwise.

I think JBXP and some of the marketing is neat and obviously frutiful in some ways, but the backlash is fairly predictable = preventable. Joe if you do read this now I hope you know that I am thankful for this forum and also things like JBXP that J&R provide.  I just hate to see you get unnecessary flack especially when its seemingly very preventable. If I may, I would like to suggest getting the word here to where fans might be able to send suggestions or explain their experience about how they think improvements can be made to protect your reputation, that they could rely on the fact it will be considered with you in mind. That way also concerned fans and friends have somewhere to direct those frustrated at the response or lack of response elsewhere. It also would be nice if it was more acceptable to the admins at the other sites for us to explain to confused and offended fans on JBXP or FB that those sites are for those who enjoy that and if they don’t that they can find your info and news on the mainsite.if that is desired. I dunno. Its seems like maybe too much for the office to keep track of but over the years we have developed ways to put out fires but haven’t figured out how to with JBXP and other marketing techniques now in place. As is shown in this thread some fans keep to one place or another but some try to keep up with all of it, many just to try to do our best to help other fans find their way to which web gift enhances their experience.  I only say this to you here as you may have been directed here but I realize you might not read it.

Well said Jane. I have been a more or less regular JBXP poster since its inception and will admit that it has been dominated by a few posters from time to time, some with occasional abrasive personalities. I've observed some spats there from the sidelines and Pearl's was one. Without full time moderation, these things get out of hand. The structure doesn't lend itself to moderation so the dropoff in regulars and retreat to the fb equivalent was the result. It has had more than its share of tech problems, some not the fault of the keepers. I think it has its place in the world of Joe for the mobile world where free for all posting reigns supreme.

Re: To Watch This Video You Must Share It First

Jane, I happened to be in the unusually fortunate position today, of being able to pick up a phone and ask someone who will be seeing Joe today to mention this in passing, with the suggestion of having it pointed out to Roy - not because any of the issues touched on here are anything directly to do with Joe himself, but as a quick conduit to get a message to where it needs to go.

And no, this is not a comprehensive discussion about the pros and cons of JBXP. It doesn't have to be - here.

There are at least 360 other days of the year where I would not have been able to do this. Unique timing. wink

Good post #1 and very good points. For those that dislike the social share, JBXP has a non share link for the video up on the home page header. It now is fixed for IE. Works for me. Every bit of Joe's music is available for streaming there as well on the Juke Box section. If you don't like the way JBXP functions with fans, you can still use its tools and be a closet user. wink

The non-share link was put up, I believe, after the backlash from the not-so-successful share-first-to-watch method. The Music Box is still not working - it was supposed to be back online about a week ago. I have to say, JBXP, as it is now, is the one Joe related site I would never promote.
