Would love to hear Joe's "take" on any of the above.

CarljMD

I think Hoedown was an Aaron Copeland composition, nevertheless do you think Joe could translate that wild Keith Emerson keyboard action (well we know he can often emulate keys) into frenetic fingerboard action?! I was pondering the same regarding his "take" on Fanfare For the Common Man?!....perhaps a perfect teaser?!

ELO's album with the space ship on it is pretty cool too.

Then what about UFO's "Phenomenon" with it's UFO over a house and the man gazing and is that  a woman or guy (band member?) looking at you in the dress? The colors seemed a tad off too.

I had too hard a time deciding on a favorite Alice album cover to name a favorite...but the "eyes" bit reminds me of Ssssh by Ten Years After...the outside has Alvin Lee eyes closed and several shots to simulate movement, and when you opened it up there were Alvin's very bloodshot eyes...looking right at ya...

Re: Album Cover Art... What's your favorite from the past?

I happened to be walking through Borders yesterday and decided to look through the magazine section. I found a magazine on greatest album covers of all time. Some pretty interesting stuff and they categorized it by rock, blues, country, etc. Not surprisingly, lots of the selections posted here were on their list. At $12.50, I decided to leave it sitting on the shelf.

Bill,
I bought Captain Beyond with the 3D picture glued on the front of the album cover for $1.50 at Barkers discount store in Port Arthur. The later versions of the album only had a picture on the front of the album cover, not the 3D image.

Paul

Paul,
I have the original too. I probably paid a bit more for mine...bought it when it was released. I also remember a Rolling Stones LP that had a 3D picture on the cover, but can't remember which one. Anyone else remember that??

Yeah, I just remembered that Stones LP - "Satanic Majesties Request"

Anybody remember an LP by Bo Hannsen - "Lord of the Rings"?
Great cover, actual Tolkien stuff on the front, all instrumental.

Roy - you should have keep them just to look at!  Is the Captain Beyond album you're
talking about titled "Sufficiently Breathless"?

Re: Album Cover Art... What's your favorite from the past?

Jaci,

The album we were talking about is the first one Captain Beyond put out. Sufficiently Breathless was their second album but it also had nice album cover art too.

BluesMan,

I can't believe you gave away all your albums. I still go to garage sales and flea markets looking for them. I bought a new turntable 2 years ago just so I would have something to play them on after my old one broke. Albums sound just as good or better than CD's too if you've got the right equipment, at least that's my opinion.

Paul

Re: Album Cover Art... What's your favorite from the past?

Roy - Now that we made you feel bad about dumping those albums, you better start
searching garage sales - I always look for old Stones albums which are very hard to
come by.  The other day I found a couple old Dylan (before he went electric) and an
old Hendrix.  It's fun when you find one!

Re: Album Cover Art... What's your favorite from the past?

If anyone from Wisconsin remembers the band SOUP - I'm still searching for their album-
we also sold about 400 albums years ago but kept a couple hundred - they got to be too
much to move from apartment to apartment - quess we never thought there would be
such a revival of the old music.

Re: Album Cover Art... What's your favorite from the past?

I never thought this thread would still be going, it seems to have gotten people thinking about their old albums again. All of the album cover art postings I've done are albums that I still own.

Uriah Heep....The Magician's Birthday

Osibisa....Osibisa

Jefferson Starship....Spitfire

Robin Trower....Twice Removed From Yesterday
