Topic: Moving on...in a way

So there was an announcement today that the division of the company I work for is being sold to Pioneer Natural Resources.

I'll be relocating to the corporate office in Dallas TX.  Pioneer is a fantastic company and was voted one of the top 5 employers in Dallas to work for.

13 years in SoCal...some good...some not so good...somethings I'll miss, many things I won't miss.

Life is interesting

Re: Moving on...in a way

There's a good music scene in the Big D. You'll hate the weather after SoCal. We'll miss you and your fine lady at the gigs we shared at the Coach House and down here. You, she and Libs shaking it on stage doing the Bonabuddy Boogie is burned in my memory buddy. That was good times! big_smile

Good Luck Mike! We'll miss you.

Re: Moving on...in a way

I wish you the best in your move and transition!  I'm sure you will find many wonderful things to explore and be happy about in your new location, plus you'll make new friends and still be able to treasure the old.....I use to to sing this little song when I was a kid..... "make new friends, but keep the old.....one is silver and the other's gold......"  Anyway, I digress sometimes.....

Hey Mike,

No wonder you didn't respond to my E-mail! wink Just want to wish you all the best with the move buddy and please keep in touch, OK? Heck, I've been retired now a little over a year, but I might consider going back to work if your were my boss! smile Plus, I can take out the garbage and clean toilets with the best of 'em! wink

Be well Mike and like I said, give me a shout once in while, OK?

Well I learned something about brown sand today!Mike, you may have a reason to go to Wisconsin with all that white sand they mention.Maybe you could get Roy to dig out all that sand for you, since he is eager to get out of retirement and work for you lol.

Re: Moving on...in a way

Best of luck Rockfarmer! My brother in law lived in Dallas a number of years ago and we spent a week with him during the summer one year. Seems like a nice city, but the week we visited it HOT. We spent a lot of time inside or in the pool.

Howdy Mike!

If you need the "DL" on "Big D" let me know!
I would be happy to answer any questions you have. Just email me.

My hubby and I know the city really well and we love the music scene here.

There is always room for another BonaPeep in Texas.

Re: Moving on...in a way

Dallas is a great town although it can be Africa hot. Traffic is what I can't handle but coming from Cali you should be used to that. Great music scene though.

Re: Moving on...in a way

The sale of the business will take another month to complete as it has to go through governmnet scrutiny.  We then have to sell the house.  That will take several months so we should be in Dallas just about the time the sidewalks are melting from the heat.  No worries though, even though I live in SoCal, I am not close to the ocean so it regularly gets over 100 deg F at my house and I grew up in south Lousisana so I know a thing or two about heat and humidity.

The office is on the north side of Irving just east of DFW airport so we'll probably look for housing somewhere on the north end of the DFW area.

Lori - We'll definately be in contact.  Not only do Susan and I need help to learn about the area, but I need to find good wine, good food and, of course, good music.

Susan and I will take a trip to the area in a few weeks just to look around at area's.  Some folks from the office live in Grapevine and Frisco so we'll check out those places, plus others generally on the north side of the cities.

So... Yee Haw and Howdy Partner!!! I fixin to be a Texan.  Heck, I think I need to find a place to make me some good custom boots (Alligator, of course.. I mean I am from Louisiana after all) and maybe even a nice Resistol hat.

Re: Moving on...in a way

We have friends that live in Frisco and we go to Grapevine to Tolberts to see Jim Suhler play (among other places).

Get your Alligator boots from Leddy's in Ft. Worth.

And sometimes even a guy by the name of Bonamassa will blow into town ;-)

Re: Moving on...in a way

Mike, moving is never much fun but I hope this all works out the best for you.  At least you'll be a little closer to the Swamp!  I live in East Dallas (Shreveport) so hopefully will still get to run into you (and you Lori!) at a Joe function in Dallas.

Re: Moving on...in a way

Although this our first move in 13 years, it will be the 10th move in my working career/married life.  We moved quite a bit when our girls were small.  Actually, I'm looking forward to it.  Sometimes change is good.

Re: Moving on...in a way

I'm glad you're up for the adventure. Great attitude. I really hope the women aren't like the one's on Big Texas! They're mean lol  It's nice to know you're already hooked up with a Bonagroup. Looking forward to stories.    Cathy

Re: Moving on...in a way

Funny you should say that George...My wife, who is a much bigger LSU fan than I will ever be was looking at this coming year's schedule and saw that we play Texas A&M in College Station, TX this year.  It is about a 3.5 hour drive from Dallas.  She said  "I'm going to this game...you can come if you want"

Re: Moving on...in a way

I wish you the best in this Mike, think you and wife will really like it there. Lots to do in Texas, and fabulous brisket nearly everywhere. And then you have the Shiner bock, which is a nice brew. Yeah, and all the sports and all the music including Austin. Sometimes I wish I still lived in Houston. Keep us up on the move and I hope and trust it will go smoothly.
