Topic: Oh my left shoulder (or right if you are a lefty... Strap discussion

So after 20 years of playing guitar, and the martial arts abuse on top of it, my left shoulder has become problematic.  My Firebirds have been partially retired for live work due to weight reasons, and now I am back to playing strat-style guitars (lighter and look ok when strapped up higher like EJ; the balance of the Firebirds makes it limiting to how high or low i can strap it due to my height).  I assume the problem started when I used to use a narrow Ernie Ball strap, with a heavy 70's LP (12 lbs), hung way too low... not an issue for everyone but it has become for me.  On top of that I do play rock and roll and we have to look cool at gigs right?  Although I feel looks are not the most important thing, but it is icing on the cake for the crowds (and by crowds I mean girls smile

I have found that the Franklin Cotton cinch 3 inch strap is the most comfortable but hate the fact that it is not designed for shorter stature players like myself (I am a towering bit shy of 5'6"), so for a strat style guit, I need to have it about around 43 inches long.  I even drilled new holes in the leather in the Franklin strap to make it more adjustable, but even then the adjustable belt slips and bundles up lowering the guitar in the course of playing and it feels uncomfortable.

For you guys out there with such issues, what are you all using, which would not break the bank?
