Kid must have some high end equipment..Visual picture quality and photos are excellent. The slightly blurry background makes him look almost 3D. My cousin has some pro-quality camera lenses that do that, and add depth, thus her photos are fashion magazine worthy.

...i guess this was shot with a DLSR ....great vid' but makes me wanna just give up playing!

Hey guys ! smile

First of all, thank you  for your messages. To be honest, I didn't know there was a post on my videos on the Jbonamassa forum ! It means a lot to me and I'm glad you like them !

Quick introduction of myself : My name is Florian, I'm 21 and I live in France. I've been playing the guitar for 6 years and it's important to mention that I'm a big Joe Bonamassa fan !

Concerning the video recording, I used a Nikon D3100 DSLR and a 35mm f/1.8 lens. This equipment is not very expensive but I've learned how to use it properly smile This 35mm lens is awesome for video recording, even in low light, and you can get that famous blurry effect called Bokeh with it.

If you have any questions about my videos, recording, settings, sounds or whatever, feel free to ask me !

Once again, thank you !

Florian

Welcome to the forum Florian and friend Pierre. Any fan of Joe's is surely welcome here. There are some envious players here that would love to hear what you use to get that killer tone. Keep the posts coming and check in to let us know of your progress. Substantial for 6 years of playing.

Thank you !

To get that tone, I use a Shure SM57 microphone and a Line 6 UX2. The SM57 is plugged into the analog input of the UX2 and the UX2 is plugged straight into my computer (USB). So this Line 6 interface works as an external sound card.

I don't use any of the FX pedals or amp models on the Line 6 POD Farm software (similar to Guitar Rig) because I want to record the actual sound of my amp. Sometimes I use a preamp on POD Farm to adjust the equalizer. I also never record with reverb because I add it in post-processing so that the sound is not muddy.

Then, I use Audacity or Cubase to record my guitar and mix it with the backing track.

It not an expensive gear and it works pretty well !  wink

The fact that I think you've got great tone in that clip is neither here nor there. But, like I mentioned on youtube, the fact that Big Jeff, aka the Funky Doctor of Love, likes your playing, is quite a compliment! cool

You'll have to get yourself to Florida, tout suite. wink

Welcome and glad you and Pierre joined the forum.

Thanks for explaining your recording setup.  Amazing what you're able to do with a relatively simple setup.
